Read moreFraudulent restaurant with extremely rude manager and horrible service!
Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that the staff lacked professionalism. The service was incredibly slow, and despite our attempts to flag down the staff, it felt like we were invisible to them.
To make matters worse, our starters arrived at different times, and the main course was served before the table was properly cleared: a clear sign of disorganization.
But the grand finale? A menu item advertised as including quail eggs (more than 1) was served with half a regular egg instead. When we brought this to the manager's attention, expecting an apology and perhaps a solution, we were met with rudeness. The manager had the audacity to address our concerns as "minor details" and insignificant! We had never encountered such an arrogant restaurant manager before! He even challenged us to leave a bad review for his restaurant! Replacing a menu item with a much cheaper item without even informing us in advance, is technically a fraud.
Long story short, save your appetite and money. Until this restaurant gets its act together and serves up some decent service with a side of respect,...

NIKO offers an authentic Japanese Izakaya experience right in the heart of The Hague. We had the pleasure of enjoying our meal while seated outside on the boat terrace along the canal—a peaceful and truly unique setting.
The appetizers were absolutely delightful. The Japanese Caprese was a fresh and creative twist on a classic, while the Octopus Salad was perfectly seasoned and tender. We also loved the Oyster No. 2—a bold, flavorful bite—and the Chikuwa Isobeage, which was crispy on the outside and light on the inside. The Miso Soup was comforting and rich in flavor, a perfect warm-up to the rest of the meal.
For mains, we enjoyed the deliciously crisp Hirekatsu and the incredibly tender Beef Tataki with onion soy sauce. The Sauce Katsu Don had just the right balance of sweet and savory, and the Oyako Don was heartwarming and full of flavor.
Every dish was beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients, and the staff were kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The whole experience—amazing food, lovely service, and the serene canal setting—makes NIKO a true gem in The Hague. Highly recommended!

Sehr...
