We have biked past this restaurant several times since moving to The Hague. I was attracted by its Nordic interior style and my partner was attracted by their menu. We are always curious to give it a try. Last week, we were here celebrating my partner's birthday, and I am so grateful that we celebrated here! I n the 5 courses set menu (vegetarian option and pairing wine available if you would like), each dish was presented beautifully and most importantly they were ALL very delicious and fresh! We are still thinking of the cod and its sauce everyday since the dinner. Lekker! (Goed gedaan, chef!)
The staff team are friendly, professional, and very thoughtful. My partner and I were pleasantly surprised by a very thoughtful action they did for us (not giving it away here, not wanting others to see it as an expectation from the restaurant). But we were so happy and it really warmed our hearts :) (Thank you!)
For those who are concerned about dining out during COVID time, there is nothing you need to worry about here. All tables are spaced out, hand sanitizer available upon entrance, all staff follow the safety measures as well. I feel comfortable and safe throughout the dining experience.
If anyone is looking to support the local restaurants during this pandemic time, or simply looking for a nice evening out with family and friends to enjoy some quality food, I would highly recommend BØG. We cannot wait to...
Read moreBog is a modern, Nordic inspired restaurant in one of the hip neighborhoods of Den Haag, offering elevated dining experience with a focus on local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. While there are many such restaurants popping up everywhere these days, Bog is a good option if you want to try out such experience.
We had a nice experience dining at Bog. The dishes were carefully crafted, and the use of seasonal produce really shone through as most dishes were built on a handful of ingredients. During dinner you are served creative courses as well as amuse-bouches and extras on the side that add to the value without feeling overdone or pretentious. While I can't comment on a specific dish since their menu changes frequently, the pigeon was one of the highlights of our meal. It was well prepared.
In contrast to the food, the wine list felt limited. The variety and depth of flavors in the dishes would benefit from a broader selection of wines to match and enhance the experience.
The staff was welcoming and attentive without being intrusive, and the service was well-paced. Although some of the staff weren't fully familiar with the dishes or the wines.
Still, we would recommend Bog, and we would revisit to try out their menu...
Read moreAppalling customer service (especially for such an expensive restaurant). Staff were rude to me, saying it was impossible to cook ANYTHING for me as a vegan. As context I had booked this restaurant specifically for the vegetarian menu, featuring 6 courses, each course described by 3 ingredients. Only 1/18 ingredients mentioned was non-vegan (duck egg). So I assumed taking one ingredient out of one dish, in a nice restaurant would not be an issue. I was told there was dairy in everything (but how was I to know this??) and that it was impossible to cook me anything else. They offered no solutions, and made me feel awkward. My colleagues and I were forced to leave which was embarrassing, especially as we were already sat down and had ordered drinks. They lost out of...
