WORST RESTAURANT EVER - JUST AVOID!!!
Ramna restaurant is officially the worst experience I ever had , in terms of everything : quality of food, service , and price.
We originally were planning to go to Maharani that we knew and trusted , but decided to try something new instead -HUGE mistake.
The owner or manager is full of fake smiles but he is actually really rude. Before coming,we had booked a table for all our friends ,and then found out the restaurant had Groupon too. So some of us bought groupons ,but in the notes section of our Groupon we all wrote we had already made a reservation of a table already , to avoid double bookings. Apparently the staff does not read comments in their booking platforms , because 2 separate tables were reserved for us (no idea why). However when we came we cleared the misunderstanding by saying again that the big table reservation and the Groupon reservation is the same. At the end , the owner/manager came to us to complain that it was our fault that he kept another table reserved for us , and when he was asking us for explanations he kept interrupting, not listening, and made ironic grimaces while we were trying to explain and clear out the misunderstanding to him. Even when we presented to him the note of our Groupon reservation , he still kept insisting. Seriously, worst service ever.
Quality of food is terrible. The first thing we tried was a vegetable chaat , that was basically just canned chickpeas with some tomato and cucumbers , no salt and no spices. There was nothing tasty in that thing,, and nothing Indian either . Our currys were okayish but still really not what one expects to eat at an Indian Restaurant. They lacked spices , flavor and "Soul". Everything felt as if it had been microwaved and got cold really quickly. The naans were identical to the packaged ones we get at the supermarket. The desert consisted of some weird dough balls in liquid, supposedly gulab jamun, but really bad. This was the worst supposedly Indian food I have ever eaten. It feels all the reviews that claim the opposite were just fake.
Everything feels like a rip-off. First of all indeed without even informing , they brought us 7euros per bottle water. Without bringing tap water or telling us that's the price of bottled water. Overpriced wine that was just BAD (28 euros per bottle? Really?!) Also , they write on their own menu that gulab jamun is served with or without vanilla icecream, but when we asked for icecream they said they do not do that , even when pointed out that it's on their own menu. Also , the owner told us that naan bread is included in the price (as in , one naan bread per person) but we were charged separately for naan bread (3.5 € per person !)
4.Atmosphere could be improved. Even though the restaurant has nice decoration, the light is blinding bright white and the tables are so tight that we really had to squeeze through without any breathing space.
Overall a really really poor experience that our whole group really regretted. We should simply have gone to Maharani or Rice&Spice right from the start. Don't waste your time...
Read moreWe had dinner here yesterday, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing.
First of all, the hygiene left much to be desired. The napkin had a black spots on it, and one of the plates was not clean. Although the waitress was friendly, we felt misled during the ordering process. We chose the 2-for-1 offer and ordered pakora, tandoori chicken with gravy, and madras paneer. The waitress convinced us to order an extra side dish, so we added an aloo gobi and a garlic naan.
We received a complimentary papadum, which is standard in many restaurants, but we were only given one papadum for the table along with three chutneys. The mint chutney was so thick it resembled garlic butter.
The pakora came in four tiny pieces without any chutney, and the portion was underwhelming. The main dishes lacked flavor. The chicken tasted old and was not well-seasoned, and the madras paneer was bland.
Drinks were also disappointing. The mango lassi was very thick and served warm, and the cola had hardly any fizz. It tasted like it had been opened earlier or possibly refilled.
After paying, we looked at the receipt and realized that we had been charged €16.95 for the aloo gobi, which was listed as a side dish on the menu. We were shocked by this, as we’ve never paid that much for aloo gobi at any restaurant. The total bill came to around €61, which we felt was far too much for what we received.
The only thing we enjoyed was the garlic naan.
Overall, the poor hygiene, misleading upselling, and low food quality made this a very disappointing experience. Sadly, this was our first and last visit. Definitely not...
Read moreWish I hadn't bothered to attend this establishment. First the tables weren't properly cleaned down of crumbs from previous customers, and there were stains from previously spilt food from that day. During the order process, I requested onion bhaji. Asked if there were multiple onion bhaji's and was told there was only one. So I asked to change this to the chicken tandoori then ordered the mains. Low and behold, on arrival of my starter, it consisted of 4 onion bahji's. No sign of the chicken tandoori. No big deal, as I like onion bahji's. They weren't the best to be honest. Not much onion in them, more floury flavour from them. My main dish was grand, got chicken Jalfrezi, plenty of chicken and spicy, which I was happy with. The brother got butter chicken, which didn't taste of butter chicken. Was a flavourless dish. After the main dishes were served, along comes the chicken tandoori (from a different waiter). At that point, I had to explain to the waiter that we had the onion bahji for starters, even though I had changed the order and from the onion bahji to chicken tandoori. The events still weren't over at this stage, just as we're wrapping up the main, my brother jumps out of the seat! He seen some come through the front door and scatter under the table. It was a mouse running about. He mentioned to the waiter and he was like they come in all the time, they come up from the drains and an older guy was like ""it's because the door is open". Not the best experience in an Indian restaurant that I've had!! Note, the starter was removed...
