Bar Restaurant Walden — Restaurant in Utrecht

I do NOT recommend eating here! The tables were dirty, the waiter was wearing a beanie and the cutlery is served after receiving your food. I asked the waiter if the bavette could be cooked rare. The answer was: "it is precooked...". So I ordered the spareribs. Unfortunately this meat was precooked, cooled down and warmed up again too (I guess they hate meat or something). I was hesitating to give this restaurant a two star review because the starter (carpaccio) was tasty. But then the dessert came: a brownie. You'd say hard to ruin this, well they managed to ruin it! Is tasted more like a dry cake. The whole restaurant gave the vibe like it was managed by some hipster stoners who sat at the park thinking they needed money to buy weed from. Yes it was cheap (€15,-) but I had rather spent it on...

Be careful! Waiters are really nice but the Manager is really rude with customers. After eating there (group of 20 people) with a high bill, we wanted to pay separately (we want to divide everything between all of us and pay with card) he didn’t let us do it! And he was really rude to us! We had to hear during the whole dinner that we were a big group and is was a lot of work... (we reserved our table, they knew what to expect) Not giving or doing any effort to help us and talking to us like we were stupid and screaming. Other tables could actually split the bill but not us... Location is good. Food good but nothing special. Drinks super expensive! Corona 5 euros per bottle!! Not coming anymore! Didn’t feel welcome at all. As a customer not happy...

Abysmal place to eat. Poor hygiene from the serving staff, poorly prepared food (the waiter admitted that the meat was preheated earlier than day, then cooled down and reheated) and poorly briefed staff or written menu (the waiter didn't know the burger contained Bacon and cheese until it got served! And they sold a tiny piece of chocolate sponge as a brownie). The cutlery came well after the food was served, the waiter had to be asked to wipe down the dirty table, which he did only after asking us to wait because he was busy with something else. I only gave this one star because I can't give it any less. It was so disappointed, seeing as I picked it for being in the Elle Magazine recommendation list...
