DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. The food tastes awfully average, while definitely not being the cheapest. The burgers are so-so and I'm not a fan of the fries. They are small, thin and the seasoning just doesn't work for me. I like the pickle however, nice touch. Coming back to the burgers by the way, I ordered a "Hollandse Meester" which was a entrecote burger only served medium according to their description. That thing looked rather well-done than their claimed "medium." All in all regarding the food, it's not better than for example McDonald's, while being twice as expensive. On to the staff, there was this blonde girl who was extremely nice and she let us try the wine before making a final decision. On the opposite side of this spectrum, there was this other girl who was just so rude and unkind. It seemed as if she had to do everything with an attitude. General feeling about the staff is just underwhelming and I have a strong feeling that they're understaffed. Waiting is also just way too long for a burger bar in my opinion. I think we had to wait more than 30 minutes for some burgers and fries lol.. Lastly, the atmosphere just isn't pleasant in my opinion. Aside from the rude to at best mediocre staff (aside from the blondr girl being the exception), it's also waaaay too crowded. The place is filled to the brim with people, which makes it loud, cramped and I can imagine that it doesn't do the waiting time any help as well. Conclusion: for a total price of 57 euros for two mediocre burger menus, two sodas and a glass of wine, I suggest to spend your money elsewhere (even McDonald's is a better...
Read moreThe absolute worst. This place was jammed every time we walked past it last week, so we sadly and mistakenly thought it might be good. The first five minutes were fine. We got seated quickly and the waiter was almost aggressive (by Dutch standards) in taking our drink and food orders - which made us think the food would come out quickly, especially since all we ordered was two burgers. Well...we waited. And waited. And waited. After 35-40 minutes, I waived down a waiter and simply asked "Can we -please get our food?". He went off to the kitchen and returned to tell us that put order would be ready in "four minutes". So after four became ten, I asked for the manager, and she was nice enough but just fed me some nonsense about the kitchen being understaffed and how their policy is not to cook more than ten burgers on the grill at once, which is strange, given that the places seats about 80 people!
So, by the time our food finally arrived, I had a sinking feeling that it would be terrible, and it was. Memories of burgers served in my old high school cafeteria, is all I can say - dry, flavorless meat - like eating wet napkins or something. The manager didn't charge me for my burger, and kept trying to give us free drinks, but all we really wanted (and never got) was a tasty meal served in a timely manner. DO NOT go here. The poor service and terrible food quality made our last night memorable, in...
Read moreWhat makes a burger worth 25 euro? Its not the sauce, its not the extra toppings, its not the "brioche bun". Its not the fancy surroundings (this place is just a college burger bar). Its not the fries (which are excellent that's why I gave them 2 stars) Its the quality and preparation of the meat, the beef patty that is the heart of a burger. The beef patty inside the 25 euro burger that I was sold by this place came right out of a box of 48 patties, sold by a supplier, not at all prepared by the kitchen, just right out of their fringe on to the grill still cold and pressed. I was told by the server that all their burgers are suggested medium-rare. Flash alert; you can only prepare the burger medium rare when it is at room temperature when it goes on the grill. Tell the "chef"! The burger patty sold to me for 25 euros had the texture of a meatloaf prepared by a 5-year-old and tasted like a bunch of newspapers used to clean up some mechanical grease. It is clear that this kitchen is ran by children whose taste buds are operated by the apps on their phones. And the glass of wine i got had a 2/3 pour. This place is a rip-off for...
