🛑 ⚠️ ⛔️ Rude staff, be careful ⛔️⚠️🛑
We visited Beers and Barrels on 8th August to celebrate a special day, but unfortunately, our experience was spoiled by the behavior of some of the staff.
To begin, I want to commend the team, particularly Miss Jewel, for her outstanding service. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional throughout our visit. Her warm hospitality made a positive impression and was a highlight of our evening.
However, our celebration was overshadowed by the actions of Giovanni and another male staff member. After sitting for over an hour, Giovanni approached our table and silently placed a piece of paper on it, which mentioned something about a reservation. This left us confused, so we approached him and politely asked if he could explain what it meant. Instead of offering a clear explanation, Giovanni reacted with a loud tone and threatening, rude behavior. His aggressive response made us feel extremely uncomfortable, as if we had done something wrong by simply asking for clarification.
Later, during the last 30 minutes of our visit, another staff member approached our table and noticed a sealed bottle of hydration water that we had brought with us but were not consuming. Without any greeting, he simply said, "You can't use that here." I responded by explaining, “I know, it’s been here for the last 3 hours.” However, before I could finish, he interrupted me with, "I just have to say it." This abrupt and dismissive comment felt unnecessarily rude and condescending, especially since there was no issue with the bottle being there.
As we were initially planning to order dinner, the negative interactions we had experienced made us decide to cut our evening short. We chose to just order nachos and leave, as the atmosphere had become too uncomfortable for us to stay longer.
What was meant to be a joyful celebration turned into a distressing experience due to their rude, arrogant, and menacing conduct.
Despite this, Miss Jewel’s professionalism and kindness stood out, especially when she later apologized on Giovanni’s behalf. Her response was a redeeming aspect of our visit, and we truly appreciated her efforts to make things right.

My wife and I came to Utrecht to come to pick up some stuff I ordered in the city. We live about 25 min Car drive away. And I just had 18 hours of flying so I wanted to take my wife out for good dinner somewhere interesting. SO we looked around the Utrecht channels. And came across Beers And Barrels. Decided we go give it a try as always looking for future places to Review For our travel Vlog. got Inside got greeted well at front of the house and seated very quick this at 6.20pm then drink orders also very quick. the place was busy but GREAT! atmosphere and loved it, then ordered food nachos to share and also a platter with a bit of everything 1 for me and 1 for my wife and they said can do gluten-free for my wife. So awesome so we get nachos in about 25 min and get few more cooldrink/drink orders to go in. about 8pm I look around and seen tables in time we were there with big orders turn over about 2 groups of people since we been there. so we call the waitress and ask can she find out what happens with the main meal. another 30 min goes by and nothing come or been told anything so I said to my wife get the bill lets to pay and get out I can not wait forever. so get the bill and see we been charged for the meals we have not got. So I was quite angry and asked my wife if she could sort it. As I really don't want to Make a Scene. My wife gose to query it and No one knows what has happened and gets it canceled off the bill. I really was hoping this Place be a great place to come back to for Fun / Food and to review. But first impressions are everything. and I think very poorly of this place now as I asked 30 min before we left any news on our food and I got told ( I will find out now ). I have to say It got a lot going for It Just Very poor service. I have booked a table for 4 people last Friday. We arrived 5 min earlier and the host, a man on his 50's-60's, was very unprofessional and ruined our evening.
The restaurant was full, so he decided to give us a small round table designed for two people or maybe 3 maximum. Of course four people can't eat there, it was too small but he promised to me that we would get a bigger table later on, so we accepted to have some drinks there. However, to my surprise, they were also missing a chair and what this rude host did, it was giving to me a stool, not a chair, a simple uncomfortable stool!!! This was turning intk a bad joke already but we wanted to be polite so we accepted this temporary solution.
We ordered our food and shortly after, we saw a bigger table becoming available, perfect dor 4 people, so we decided to move there ourselves. When the unprofessional host saw us there, he said that we could not be there, that the table was reserved for other customers! We were astonished by the lack of common sense and professionalims of this individual! I started to argue about him promising me to guve me a bigger table but he insisted on us having to move and come back to the smaller table. We discussed for a few minutes until he decided that we must pay our drinks and leave without having any food, something that we agreed on, so we sat and decided to finish our drinks while deciding what or where to eat next.
After a few minutes, and realizing that it is not profitable for then to have a table drinking only 4 beers, he decided to move us back to the bigger table, which we did.
We got the table that we booked but it costed us he good vibe we had because this individual ruined our evening!!!
Please, learn from this huge mistake, dont pack people on a tiny table for the sake of getting more profit!!
