Unfortunately, this was a major letdown. I’d expected decent food given the central location and the prices, but it was simply not good at all. The prices were high, but the quality and service didn’t match.
My partner got her pasta 10 minutes before my pizza even arrived, showing a total lack of coordination in the kitchen. It felt like they were just making dishes in any order without caring about serving the whole table together. Sure, a small delay can happen—if you’re serving high-end food—but not for pizza and noodles.
Her noodles were supposed to be pasta with truffle, but they tasted like a sort of carbonara gone wrong. The egg in the sauce was overcooked, basically scrambled eggs with noodles that had a slightly citrusy taste. The so-called “truffle” had zero flavor, but of course, they charged the truffle price for it.
My pizza was dripping with so much oil that it made a frozen pizza seem like a healthy option.
The service was also terrible. The waiters were rude and inattentive. I tried to find a waiter for 15 minutes but couldn’t, so like some other people there, we stood up to leave and search for one. When we did find someone, he sent us back to our table and made us wait another five minutes just to pay. Once we paid, he disappeared without even a thank you or goodbye.
The drinks were another disappointment: served from the kitchen, not at the table, with huge ice cubes that turned the drink into water.
Apart from the location, there was nothing good about our visit. So disappointed with both the food and...
Read moreLast weekend my friends and I came for dinner at this place. The ambience next to the canal was lovely, the food - fantastic. But the service? Nonexistent and abusive. After an initial round of drinks our food comes out and we enjoy our meal. We would have loved to order: a bottle of wine, water and some beer but after trying to flag our waiter down for some time we gave up. We practically begged him to come and attend to us. After 45 minutes of watching the entire restaurant get packed up (chairs on tables and everything) our waiter finally comes over. We watched him pace the length of the terrace multiple times before he comes over. We had each portioned out a share of a tip but everytime he walked past us and grumpily told us to wait - the idea of tipping him just made less sense. By this point we are tired, thirsty and the mood has been completely spoiled. The waiter asks for a tip. Then demands it. Then yells, swears and continues to yell at us for not giving him a tip. He hurled insults at us for being South African without realising that we live in Holland and Germany respectively. I don’t know where in the world someone could be so extremely rude to patrons like that. My friends - who live in Utrecht and have been frequenting this place will sadly not recommend it anymore and I certainly...
Read moreWe went down the stairs and we were greeted by two waiters leaning towards the wall, waiting for customers. One of them politely invited us to walk forward and I requested a table for two near the water. Only when we sat we started noticing the nasty aspects: tables were quite dirty. If you were to run your hand on them, dirt would stick to it. After I placed my phone on the table I had to wipe the bottom. Similarly, my fork had, what it appeared to be, an old piece of olive stuck in it. an employee climbed one of the tables to open an umbrella. I watched him and he never bothered to clean the table afterwards. employees walked around and they casually saluted each other in slang. Some may say this is fine, but I personally think it is not appropriate---especially when the salute involves touching each other's bellies. still, the part that ruined it all was the oversalted pizza they served me. It was obvious that they used some canned ingredients kept in salty water and they never cared to wash the salt away first.
All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I noticed that two other customers sitting next to us (i.e., mother and daughter) were also not impressed with the poor service. I can't recommend...
