Unfortunately, this was a major letdown. I’d expected decent food given the central location and the prices, but it was simply not good at all. The prices were high, but the quality and service didn’t match.

My partner got her pasta 10 minutes before my pizza even arrived, showing a total lack of coordination in the kitchen. It felt like they were just making dishes in any order without caring about serving the whole table together. Sure, a small delay can happen—if you’re serving high-end food—but not for pizza and noodles.

Her noodles were supposed to be pasta with truffle, but they tasted like a sort of carbonara gone wrong. The egg in the sauce was overcooked, basically scrambled eggs with noodles that had a slightly citrusy taste. The so-called “truffle” had zero flavor, but of course, they charged the truffle price for it.

My pizza was dripping with so much oil that it made a frozen pizza seem like a healthy option.

The service was also terrible. The waiters were rude and inattentive. I tried to find a waiter for 15 minutes but couldn’t, so like some other people there, we stood up to leave and search for one. When we did find someone, he sent us back to our table and made us wait another five minutes just to pay. Once we paid, he disappeared without even a thank you or goodbye.

The drinks were another disappointment: served from the kitchen, not at the table, with huge ice cubes that turned the drink into water.

Apart from the location, there was nothing good about our visit. So disappointed with both the food and...

Last weekend my friends and I came for dinner at this place. The ambience next to the canal was lovely, the food - fantastic. But the service? Nonexistent and abusive. After an initial round of drinks our food comes out and we enjoy our meal. We would have loved to order: a bottle of wine, water and some beer but after trying to flag our waiter down for some time we gave up. We practically begged him to come and attend to us. After 45 minutes of watching the entire restaurant get packed up (chairs on tables and everything) our waiter finally comes over. We watched him pace the length of the terrace multiple times before he comes over. We had each portioned out a share of a tip but everytime he walked past us and grumpily told us to wait - the idea of tipping him just made less sense. By this point we are tired, thirsty and the mood has been completely spoiled. The waiter asks for a tip. Then demands it. Then yells, swears and continues to yell at us for not giving him a tip. He hurled insults at us for being South African without realising that we live in Holland and Germany respectively. I don’t know where in the world someone could be so extremely rude to patrons like that. My friends - who live in Utrecht and have been frequenting this place will sadly not recommend it anymore and I certainly...

We went down the stairs and we were greeted by two waiters leaning towards the wall, waiting for customers. One of them politely invited us to walk forward and I requested a table for two near the water. Only when we sat we started noticing the nasty aspects: tables were quite dirty. If you were to run your hand on them, dirt would stick to it. After I placed my phone on the table I had to wipe the bottom. Similarly, my fork had, what it appeared to be, an old piece of olive stuck in it. an employee climbed one of the tables to open an umbrella. I watched him and he never bothered to clean the table afterwards. employees walked around and they casually saluted each other in slang. Some may say this is fine, but I personally think it is not appropriate---especially when the salute involves touching each other's bellies. still, the part that ruined it all was the oversalted pizza they served me. It was obvious that they used some canned ingredients kept in salty water and they never cared to wash the salt away first.

All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I noticed that two other customers sitting next to us (i.e., mother and daughter) were also not impressed with the poor service. I can't recommend...

A friend suggested we have dinner at a local Italian restaurant after a long stroll around several shops and central station. IL Pozzo is a unique Italian restaurant that is surprisingly located in a location that was once a wharf cellar in the late 1150s (you get the idea! extremely old) which were used for storage by sailors who had to trade supplying goods in Utrecht. This restaurant is run by an Italian family who cater to guests from all the world over. Their prices are friendly and serve juicy steak served the way you like it. It’s a great place to visit especially in the evening where you get to enjoy the view of a beautiful Utrecht canal while sipping a glass of Italian wine or drink of your choice! A great place for group lunches or dinners or want to enjoy a pizza. Note: It gets too crowdy and it may take a while for you to be served. Also be clear how you want your steak served. I prefer mine well done!

Ok food and prime location with fast and friendly service. So 3 stars because the food for us was ok, but not more. We had the bruschetta and pizza. The Bruschetta was blend and did not have enough flavour. Not the tomato itself and not the finishing. It was fresh though on nice bread, these fast pace restaurants can also easily serve you mushy pre prepared. The pizza was ok, but again it did not have the best ingrediënts, probably to be able to keep prices ok. But the dough could be better, the cheese was ok and the salami more dutch then italian an I think canned mushrooms. The location is great! These canal spots are vibrant, and a must when visiting Utrecht. They have a great beer menu, with also nice beer from tap and I tip my hat for the friendly waiter who is fast and has everything under control. In the heat, with a full terras!

Food took a long time to arrive. Pizzas were fine, nothing extraordinary or bad. The lasagna was quite dry but alright. The issue came when paying. After paying I was informed that this payment included the tip. I found it abusive and misleading since I did not agree with the waiter beforehand about the tip. This is not standard practice in the Netherlands and I just noticed several reviews mentioning this practice. Attached, small receipt what I was asked to pay and the long receipt was the amount that I had to pay AFTER I had already been charged. If there are more customers claiming similar experiences, then this must mean this is a practice that is supported by the manager of the restaurant. Shameful.
