Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Kaasbar Utrecht could have been a great last supper for me and my group - sadly it ended our trip together on a bad note. The cheese itself taste good and is delicate, and it’s a plus you have a big selection of different cheeses and toppings to choose from. However, the service was for us during our visit was exceptionally bad - I cannot remember the last time it was this poor. Getting a tiny piece of overpriced slice of cheese took over an hour. We entered a little early and was told we could not get our table earlier than our booked time which was 17:00 - which is very fair and ok. However when we come back we were given the same exact table that was already free when we first arrived - strange, but ok. Then we were essentially left and forgotten. The waiters came over 15 minutes later with menus and we, after asking, was promised to be put at the bar instead which we were told «would not take long» - it took over 20-30 minutes and in the end we weren’t given it. We ordered 3 drinks where they forgot 1 of them. We were switched to sit downstairs and that took longer as well. When the waiter finally after 45 minutes took our order he managed to forget and mix 1 of them where we hastily had to correct him so we wouldn’t get something we didn’t order. All this also happened to at least 3 other tables during our tables and the place wasn’t even that busy - the other tables waited a long time to be acknowledged, to order and they also forgot another table’s order and the waiters didn’t communicate between themselves. Then 15-20 minutes after ordering 3 tiny plates of sliced cheese we finally got them. They tasted nice, but the vibe and whole experience was totally ruined and the price is not absolutely justifiable - it is all rather overpriced. Then when we wanted to pay and split since we are 3 different nationalities with different payment apps and cards - this was not ok for them. But after telling them we could do their job for them by doing the math of splitting each order they agreed - strange to refuse to split when the system allows it, especially after so many errors and delays. In the end this was a bad experience, we hoped it would be amazing and had high expectations after reading the reviews. However it wasn’t, you can’t win it all. 2/5, would not recommend unless they change...
Read moreWe went here for an after dinner drink & cheese and it is phenomenal! The cheeses are served in a beautiful and interesting way and they taste really unique. The personnel is great at explaining the different flavors and what pairs with what. We couldn’t sit at the conveyor belt anymore but I could see from a distance, that’s the real treat imho. Seeing the cheeses move in front of you and being able to just take it. Hopefully next time there will be a spot! We will definitely go again!!
It would’ve been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the experience with the cocktails. I feel like it was a new bartender so maybe they need to learn but the margarita had the ratio of Cointreau and Tequila switched and we left it, it was not nice. I had ordered an Old Fashioned and the waitress also said ‘here’s your old fashioned’. But it was a Moscow mule. 😄 the mule tasted reasonable but of course isn’t the same. Mistakes can happen and it the rest was so amazing that we had a good laugh about it. But I would advise a good workshop for the...
Read moreGreat concept. However; Very slow, young staff (between 18-22 year olds), completely inexperienced, and understaffed to accommodate everyone there. When asking for suggestions of wines, one of the waitresses asked help to another one who also offered the wrong wine. (We wanted white dry but got a sweet one offered to try). Almost no options of cheese going around to pick up, which made us get satisfied/full sooner without actually having a taste of the variety the menu showed us was available. The wine selection is very bad, specially if you are a wine lover or have travelled around a bit, the selection is worst than supermarket + a very high price = disappointing. The concept has a lot of potential. But you need an EXPERIENCED wine and cheese lover behind the bar. Part of the experience is to get suggested different things, to be informed about the knowledge of cheeses and wines, informed about good combinations between the 2, etc.. Location is excellent but unfortunately the rest is left...
