Karibu - coffee, brunch, diner en borrel — Restaurant in Utrecht

We came here for a brunch. The food here was amazing, but the service was quite bad.

We did not make a reservation as we wanted to stay outside, but inside it was quite full. We waited a bit for a table and managed to get one outside. It took some time for someone to come and clean up the table. We ordered our drinks and asked for a food menu. After a bit we also managed to order the food. I wanted the Turkish eggs but they said they didn't have them anymore, and my boyfriend asked for a Bloody Mary and they were also out of tomato juice. We ordered a lemonade and an immunity booster, and for food I got in the end the Huevos Rancheros and my boyfriend got the tuna melt sandwitch with extra poached eggs. After 30 mins they finally got our drinks, and after another 15 we got the food. They forgot the extra poached eggs and said that they will bring them. After another 30 min they did not bring them and we paid and left. Luckily they removed the extra eggs from the bill. The food was really good, so it was quite a pity that the service was this slow. We wanted to order another round of drinks, but we thought it will take too much for them to bring them.

The interior looks so nice and the menu is so promising. I had their sweets and most of them are very good, enough vegan choice. But the dishes very disappointing. I had the wrap, and it says it has vegetables in it but there are a few tiny pieces in the rice and a lot of lettuce. I ordered without the chicken and got mushroom replacement which normally would be fine. But That's it, no sauce or anything else to give the wrap some taste. The wrap was cold. It was also very tiny for the price. Also, the quinoa dish I ordered didn't have much taste (just some olive oil it seemed) and again, was rather small for the price. I know better places with tasty dishes, and even organic, for this price. We also ordered a coffee since we had to wait for so long. It was way too hot (coffee lovers understand my point.) I received my order more than half an hour after I ordered, no real apologies or extras. Excellent service is different,but that's obviously a choice. We were there yesterday (for a sunday lunch), and it was disappointing. We had a reservation, were put in a very dark corner but could move to a table outside later as the weather was nice. Their terrace was a plus. The food was good and kombucha was excellent, but the place was seriously understaffed, and the staff that was there was not very competent. Although it was only half full when we arrived, it took almost an hour for 2 plates of food to be brought out. Meanwhile we were starving and on top of that the portion is not very filling. Upon asking how the non-alcoholic bubble was made, no answer was provided as the staff simply did not know about their drink (depending on the method, a non-alcoholic wine can be very good or extremely bad, so it's a reasonable question). As said, they're being understaffed, so completely ignored our need for a baby chair and only pointed to where they are so we can go and get it ourself, and did not provide extra cutleries for our toddler even after being asked.
