Proeflokaal De Kruis — Restaurant in Zaanstad

Terribly bad experience. Very RUDE and arrogant waitress(red curly hair woman). Racist.

I won’t recommend this restaurant especially Asian due to the bad experience. Truly disappointed on De Kruis.

So far has been very good experience in Amsterdam until we visit this restaurant.

We saw good review in Google so we plan to have lunch break there. When we get in, the waitress bring us to table, she keep pushing everyone of us must order a drink immediately even we yet to settle down.

She took away the menu card without asking us if we want to order any food or if we still want the menu card.

Worst, she was smiling and saying thank you to another European customer, and next minute she move the chair to our table and drop it loudly in front of us. We decide to not order any food and leave immediately.

We stopped by for lunch break and coffee. Apparently, it is a little races to Asians. Once we sit down, she told us all people must order drinks. Of course we are going to order drinks and food. It is a lunch break. She was rushing us to order drinks, i told her that my mom cant drink tea, coffee and beer due to her stomach acid. We asked for a drink menu for my mom. She is impatient and throw us an food menu instead and leave. Right after we ordered the coffee, the waiter was super unfriendly. She is moving chair to our table and loudly drop the chair in-front of us. We asked about item in the menu and she was not interested to answer. Just keep saying no and no. Tell us only one thing is available. While we are seeing other tourists (European) that just reach there and ordering food and drinks. She was very polite to them. Best restaurant meal in the Netherlands. The mushroom soup was flavorful and perfect, neither too thick nor too thin. Sea Bass melted in your mouth and not too strong, well balanced - just right. I've had schnitzel all over Austria and Bavaria and what I had tonight was equal or better. The fries were the best I had in BeNe. They were crispy small wedges. Ambience is great. It's a local joint but classy in a relaxed way. Also, it's easily the best value we've experienced on this trip for restaurants. Hat's off to...
