Located at Kraaienest 4, 1509 AZ Zaandam, Netherlands 🇳🇱. This is a wonderful family business that is trying to preserve the Dutch 🇳🇱 craft of wooden shoe making. Since the 19th century, wooden shoe making has decreased I demand. Over a century ago, there was over 8000 people working in the industry, now there’s only a dozen left. That is why I felt like it was a real privilege to see the demonstration in making the shoes. It was so interesting and the man was so friendly. We did the Shoe Painting workshop and it was such fun. It costs €29.95 and we could keep our shoes. While we were painting, we learned about the history and significance of the shoes in Dutch heritage. Well worth it. The museum was fascinating, it has one of the Netherlands largest wooden shoe collections. I loved the creative clogs like the diamond bedazzled ones. There was also footwear from other cultures. The selection of shoes to see is so wide and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The building is so charming and everywhere you look, there’s wooden shoes. I had a fantastic experience.
