Amazing experience. My fiance and I were visiting after a wedding in Italy, we stayed in Zaandam during the early summer and didn't regret it. After dropping in for a late lunch, the young man serving us was as accommodating and friendly as could be. The who aesthetics and atmosphere was great, comfortable seating and decor by the canal. The food was good, but the experience was more than just food. What I could only assume to be the owner or a manager spoke to us at the checkout and was very friendly as well, spoke about the chocolate they were selling and places to visit. After paying I told one of the female waitresses to keep the change, but I was given this confused look, like they had not expected any tip, and after some translation it was resolved! (Just a funny encounter showing how different the tipping situation is here vs the west/Canada). Amazing place...

What a beautiful location for a nice dinner distant from the busy life of Amsterdam. While the food is a little expensive, it is very delicious and beautifully arranged. The food is worth the price, especially compared to the sometimes way too overpriced foods in the heart of Amsterdam. The atmosphere is lovely, the interior is nicely decorated, and you can sit outside right next to the Vaan river with a quiet feel to it.
