Zoras Italiaans Steakhouse — Restaurant in Zaanstad

We had the worst experience at a restaurant in a very long time. We came because it was one of the few places open at that hour and didn’t seem too expensive at first glance; had we known, we would have chosen the Argentinian grill next door or Debakker’s pizzeria instead. We ordered pasta, which was acceptably good, and two pizzas that were very disappointing; they weren’t Italian-style, but rather thick and pre-made, more like a flatbread. The worst part was how they lied about the origin of the Coke Zero and its price — excessively expensive: €8 for a bottle of water and €7 for a large Coke Zero (you can see the receipt). I told the waiter it wasn’t Coke Zero, and he insisted it was, claiming it came from a can — although he brought the drink already served in a glass without showing the can, which was suspicious and unpleasant. I can confirm it was neither Coke Zero nor from a can, but more like a mix of water and powder, without fizz or even sweetness. Despite our complaints, they never showed us the empty containers to prove their claim, nor did they offer to remove the drink from the bill, which would have at least shown some decency. Do not go — avoid this place. There are many far better options...

The service is awful. We were with a group of 6 and each of us ordered a dinner meal + cocktail. Additionally we asked if we could get some tap water to share. The waiter replied that “they don’t have tab water”… interesting. Later, when I went to the toilet she stopped me and asked if I am gonna be drinking something in the toilet?! Excuse me, what? Both female waiters were incredibly rude the entire time and treated us as if we are about to steal something. The waiter had no idea what is in their own menu. I ordered pizza Margherita and she had to look it up in the menu, to know what to write down. On the bill we got charged for “extra cheese” on hamburgers even though we did not request anything extra. Waiter explained that every burger by default gets extra cheese … well then it should be part of the standard burger price in my opinion.

I was disappointed. One of the worst restaurants I've ever visited. We had to wait forever for the very unfriendly waitress to take our order. We were given the wrong wine, and the food was delivered with a delay, which, to make matters worse, didn't match the menu. Music was played from YouTube with constant commercial breaks. Empty plates were left and only cleared after we left the restaurant. The waitress refused to come to the table to take further orders, which meant we had to shout across the entire restaurant. There was no card reader, and we had to pay using the waitress's phone, which seemed very dubious to us. The food tasted less than outstanding either. We ordered a bruschetta as a starter, two main courses, and two drinks, and were surprised to top it off with a bill of €70. Never again!!! Service 0/5 Food 2/5 Price 0/10 Disappointment 10/5...
