!EVERYONE BEWARE!
My group of coworkers came here for our work break up dinner last night since we're all going separate ways and wanted to go out with a good time all together and boy were we wrong for coming here, we had our booking and everything then was told there wasn't one (judging by other reviews the management don't write this down in a book for each day they are open huh).
Drinks.. ..each time we wanted drinks we had to walk from out the back of the restaurant (cold outside now so I suggest you guys get a heater out back and some good lighting) into the overly packed and crammed inside to order drinks and well overpriced too.
Food.. ..I ordered 2 starters which were Pork Belly Bites (more like sweet and sour pork, nowhere on the menu does it say that the pork belly would be deep fried, this was average I bit into a piece and greeted with cold and soft batter and cold, tough and not even crispy pork belly, the chef doused the plate in sweet and sour sauce like it was getting waterboarded I don't rate this for anyone to order). My other starter was the Salt and Pepper Calamari (and well that was well below average, the Tartare sauce was definitely scooped out of a ice cold storage cotainer cause it was just a solid frozen clump and the Wow Sauce isn't Wow its definitely just a cheap sauce from the supermarket squirted into a plastic sauce pottle) and oh you're not allowed to customize your food at all it's one or the other even with dietary and allergy requests too.
Staff.. ..Absolutely awful service from all staff members, as we're all finished our food and still having plenty to drink the lady with the glasses (as mentioned in previous reviews) runs out to us and yells at us to get up and move inside to the already overpacked and crammed public area leaving the majority of our group standing up as we do it enough each day at work from 8-15 hours a day, we spent well over $1,000 total in our group and I'm appalled by how we no staff came to check in at all how the food was going or if we needed more drinks they only came out to collect plates right as we were getting rushed to go inside.
As a food critic part time I'm not referring this place to anybody at all, if I could give a 0 star experience that's what it'd be too. They won't learn from their mistakes by looking at the previous reviews, you've let us down Greenlane Gastropub learn from your reviews and update your menu its absolutely crammed packed with not being able to meet...
Read moreOk hear me out this isn’t a mean review… the service was amazing from the time of booking to end of service. That’s why we give a 3 and not less. Greenlane Gastropub should be very proud of their team for that.
Parking at the pub is very limited. There is off street parking but some of it is time limited and I can see that certain days and times will make parking a challenge… so consider taking an Uber if google says the area is busy. We found parking right across the road no problem at the time we were there.
The eating space at the pub is much smaller than we expected and we were there on a Saturday night. There were several large groups so it was a bit of a squeeze and very loud so hard to have a conversation. We had a baby with us and they provided a good high chair and were very helpful. The drinks service was excellent and food was delivered quickly as the pub had contacted us earlier in the day to get a preorder which was a great idea!
We did get the $500 platter, presentation and effect wise it is awesome so I get why it has such a big following. We noticed that every group had ordered it so we 100% think that the kitchen was focussed on getting this very large quantity of food out to everyone on time and so… our food was not enjoyable at all. The burgers, fries and rib sauce were the only things anyone enjoyed. Our group of 9 ate less than half of the food of which there is a huge amount of. If my 3 brothers were there they would have finished it all off in 30 minutes and been incredibly happy because of the quantity. But our group was only interested in flavour and there was honestly none. Not a hint of salt anywhere. The nachos tasted the same as the seafood chowder. The other bits of seafood were over cooked, the piece of salmon so over it was white. All of the steak was flavourless and there were no sauces other than the rib sauce and the ribs we got were all fat no meat 😔honestly we were so very sad.
We could see the other tables seemed to have no issues with their platters because they ate everything. We ate less than half our board and only took a little bit home in takeaway boxes because it was a lost cause.
Sorry Gastropub we don’t think it’s always like that we think we just got unlucky and maybe a quieter day would have been different. Again your service...
Read moreFirst time visiting, and I have zero regrets about changing from usual hot pot birthday dinners.
We ordered the All Sorts Platter and when we tried to order sides, the lovely waiter warned us that the platter is plentyyyy, so no need for extra sides... buttttttt, we greedily ordered a side of nacho's... no regrets on that too because the beef nacho's was absolutly devineeee. chunky pieces of meat, plenty of salsa, guac & sour cream on a bed of nacho's... YUMMMM!!!
Then the platter turned up and OMG, it took up most of our table anddd, the waiter was right, there was soooo much food on the platter, it was hard to decide where to start!!!
The burgers were juicy and delicious, the medium rare steak was thick and juicy and cooked perfectly. Pork ribs & sauce was deeelish, likewise the wings, wontons, prawn twisters, skewers, the list goes onnnn!
Between the four of us, we ate til we couldn't eat anymore and also came away with 2 to 3 takeaway boxes each, packed with leftovers with a lil bit of everything.
Suchhhhh a bargain for the platters cos we've ordered same price platters elsewhere and there was nowhere near as much food as the Greenlane Gastro Platters!
Lovely atmosohere, comfy seating, cosy window bench seats with big fluffy cushions... easy to lie down and rest in between bites, haha.
Nice cosy function room with a balcony out back and most importantly, wonderful staff.
The owner was wonderful, she popped in for a chat at the end of our meal, introduced us to her staff & family and invited us back to try her own personal hot pot when they get a chance to make it. Lovely, lovely people.
If you have a group dinner, i suggest you try this place out and go for the platters so you get a bit of everything and just split the cost.
All sorts platter cost $250, split between four, even cheaper. A bargain for plentyyyy of food and enough to take some home to whoever you're holding out on (lol) or for second dinner or lunch the next day.
Try it out, spread the good word for this beautiful establishment, who are only just over a year into their new venture. They put so much into creating a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful food and lovely staff to match.
Highly recommend this place and will be going back again with...
