Joshi Indian Restaurant Mt Eden — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

Unfortunately I have had a really bad curry from here today and it’s my first experience so I can’t compare to another. All aspects of the curry tasted awful, and that is really unlike me to say as I LOVE a curry usually!

I purchased a chicken korma and it was overwhelmingly tasting of coconut so the ratio was all out. The Garlic and cheese Paratha tasted really bad I had one bite and couldn’t have any more.

The popadams broke the second you touched them and also had a weird taste to them?? and the mango chutney had massive clumps of mango in it so you couldn’t actually get any of the sauce out of the pot without a big chunk of mango coming with it!

This South Indian restaurant was fantastic! My wife and I visited for an Indian cuisine dinner, and while we usually order two curry dishes, we were intrigued by the variety of dosas on the menu. We decided to try the butter chicken (hot spicy), plain naan, and a Masala Dosa.

The dosa was huge, with a crispy and delicious exterior, and filled with flavourful potato curry. Dipping it into the three accompanying sauces made it even more satisfying. It was my first time trying this kind of dosa, and I absolutely loved it! The butter chicken was also excellent, rich, spicy, and just right for our tastes, as we enjoy spicy food.

Overall, every dish was satisfying. If you're looking for a great place for Indian cuisine, whether for lunch or dinner, I highly recommend...

Joshi's catered for us for 100+ people, and were far and away the most helpful of anyone we contacted. They met with us first, helped us set a menu, adapted it for vegans, and offered us some special dishes that weren't on the menu. They let us come and try everything first, and suppplied plates and cutlery and no mark-up, and came and saw us at home to see how everything would work. Overall they went out of their way to be flexible and helpful, and were very generous with their time. They even stayed to help and serve at no extra charge.

Afterwards a lot of people went and thanked them afterwards for the delicious food. They are going to get a lot of repeat custom I'd say!
