first I'll say the beds were mattresses on the ground as described and were super comfy, ||the toilet was clean and tidy. The kitchen was beautiful and spacious shared area and was pretty clean and very tidy. Lots of other backpacker style guests. ||||Negatives, the host wasn't home and it took a while for another guest to come and let us in, and fortunately for us give us the door code to get back inside. ||We were in room E which has double swing doors and no secure lock. There is a shoelace to loop around the handles on the inside and we realised the bike chain on the desk was for locking the door outside! there is no mirror or anything to hang ukp clothes on. Oh and the doors were glass and covered with gift wrapping paper as curtains!||With no communication from the host we didn't know where the bathroom was, what we could use in the kitchen (tea/coffee/milk?) which was full of other guests food of course, how to use the appliances||We let new arrival guests in but they didn't know their room number and finally managed to contact the host. We were sitting in our room when suddenly the door was pulled open without knocking, (remember the shoelace secutiry?) and the host asked if I knew my booking number, he then found our booking and it was discovered the room had been double booked, I'm glad we arrived first! We found from other guests they'd had a similar issue.||the shower needed a little more cleaning and the shower head pointed directly at the floor , not helpful.||So while it's a lovely house and excellent location and handy off street parking, as long as you can find the car owners to manouvre cars for leaving, I think room E could use a bit better security, a mirror and the host could be there and show guests around and explain how things work.||Oh and someone else obviously couldn't get in in the early hours of the morning as there was knocking and doorbell ringing , which of course we didn't answer as we didn't know if the person...
Read moreWhen we arrived we were very confused as the signs that we could see were for a Chinese school not a Hostel. As we were unpacking a car drove out and the driver wished us luck! That definitely set alarm bells ringing. When we walked in I thought we had stumbled into a drug addicts doss house, decrepit old furniture and mattresses everywhere. There was no reception so one of the people staying there found us a room. All but one plug didnt work and the bed was wonky and looked slept in, with old tatty linen. But when we went to shower and change the real horror began. The hall ceiling had paint all peeling off, the window had been broken and was boarded up with a plastic board that had a takeaway menu on it like you'd get in a restaurant! The bathroom was filthy, the entire ceiling had black mould on it, there were holes in the wall, water (or worse) all over the floor, no toilet roll, no handdryer or towels and the one block of soap provided looked like it had been there since the 70s. Took one look at the shower and there was no way we were going to use it. Halfway through the night a man walked into our room as him and his partner had apparently also been given the same room as us. He left but we were on edge all night and didnt sleep much. The next morning we were greeted with feaces in all the toilets and that was the final straw we brushed our teeth and left. The place was filthy and no one was in charge so in case of emergency we wouldve been left to fend for ourselves. There are many cheap places to stay where you dont put your health and safety at risk, do...
Read moreTerrible hotel, booked through booking.com a week ahead of time, the night before my booking they sent an automatic email saying they couldn't process my credit card. Went to my bank, nothing wrong with my card, re-entered my credit details as it was probably a problem on their side. Got an email shortly after telling me my booking was cancelled. Worried as I suddenly had nowhere to stay on my trip, I called them to ask what the problem was and to rebook my room, person on the other end told me i couldn't as my room had been booked out by someone else. Rang booking.com to to talk about the issue, call person very helpful and called the hotel, and was told that their system sometimes had problems processing credit cards and if they couldnt process it they could cancel the reservation without warning. Long story short the night before my trip i had to scramble to find another hotel to book because the city finger has a faulty processing payment system. No apology from the hotel, cancelled without warning, no human interaction , no remuneration, obviously a hotel that...
