I would've given this a 5 star if they had tomato sauce for the kids. Sadly they didn't have any at all and had to use small little packs of them (the takeaway packets). If we didn't ask for any, they wouldn't have offered or told us that there weren't any tomato sauce. The short term solution of not having any sauce in stock was to buy bottles from the supermarket. EDIT: 2 weeks after I wrote the review above, thought I'd give it another go... it was another disappointment!!!! This time they couldn't give us plates to use to dine in, because the dishwasher was broken. I asked if they could give us paper trays, they said yes okay. The food came and the lady said, sorry we have no paper trays.. after 2 attempts asking for something to use so we can eat our chicken... they gave us small paper containers and had to pull it apart to make it usable as "plates". Still wasn't good enough especially with two young children trying to have a decent meal. What a mess it was. Horrible

Simple solution to the problem was... Head to the supermarket and get some paper plates while waiting for the stupid dishwasher to be fixed. Not rocket sciene. How did they expect people to dine in without plates??? I saw heaps of plates just sitting at the back.. what ever happened to old fashioned dish washing anyway? I was told by one of the workers that the manager refused to purchase any paper plates. Man, problem solving should be one of your main skills. This branch needs a new manager. ZERO stars. I had a really bad experience eating here on a recent Sunday afternoon. My partner and I went in around 3pm and looked for a table to sit down at and planned to order using the QR code system. There were heaps of dirty tables with finished plates of food, chicken bones etc. We found a fairly clean one near the counter and ordered online. It took nearly half an hour for the first meal to arrive - they served my partner's meal and we waited to get mine but it wasn't arriving. He ate his meal and then after another 15 mins he got up to check where my meal was and they had forgotten about it. The lady we spoke to tried to make out like we had done something wrong and was very rude and unapologetic. My food arrived 10 mins later. The chicken was burnt and the chips were almost cold. They forgot our drinks which we had to ask about as well and they had no sauce bottles. I asked the same lady for sauce and she looked irritated and said they only had sauce sachets. The kitchen looked chaotic and a couple of other customers came to the counter to complain that their food was taking too long, one man looked and sounded very upset and the staff told him that they had lots of orders and he just had to wait. They also ended up closing their front door because they were so busy and put a sign up saying they were doing takeaways only. This Nandos used to be good but the standards have really slipped. I would be really concerned if I owned this restaurant. We won't be coming back here...

(If I could give zero, I would) Avoid at all costs — absolutely disgusting experience

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in Auckland — or anywhere.

First, we were told the wait time would be 30 minutes. By the time we finished placing our order, that wait became 40. Then we were told again it would be “over 40 minutes” while staff looked lost and overwhelmed. Still, we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and sat at a table.

The table was filthy. I had already asked staff in advance to clean it, and they said yes — but no one came. After waiting 10 more minutes, still nothing. We had to chase down the manager just to get someone to wipe the table. Even then, she removed a few plates but left the most revolting one, full of bones and grease and who-knows-what. I genuinely almost vomited from the stench and the look of it.

The whole place felt like chaos. No clear leadership, nobody taking responsibility, and everyone seemed to be running around with no idea what’s going on. It took forever to even get someone’s attention. There was zero hospitality, zero hygiene, and zero respect for customers.

I had to walk out of the restaurant multiple times just to calm down. It was supposed to be a nice evening, and it turned into a total nightmare. I was left upset, angry, and disgusted.

Frankly, this place should not be operating under such conditions. If you value your time, your health, and your sanity — do yourself a favour and stay...
