Mount Brewing Co. Brewery — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

1/5 stars – Came for happy hour, left with existential dread.

We rolled into Mount Brewing Co. on a sunny Easter Sunday, thirsty for good vibes and cheap beers. Unfortunately, happy hour only runs on weekdays, which seems like a cruel joke considering we specifically came on a Sunday for it. Our fault for not checking, I guess — but also, who hurt you?

Because it was Easter, we had to order food to even be allowed to drink. Fair enough. We all ordered something, waited patiently… and then waited some more… and then grew old. Half the food never arrived, the chips that did show up were sad little grease logs, and no amount of salt or beer could save them.

Meanwhile, the waitstaff wandered around like Sims without instructions. No one came to our table to take orders or check in. The only way to get a drink was to brave the bar line, which moved at the speed of continental drift.

The beers? Eh. Not the worst, not the best. But that could also be because I was still slightly cooked from the night before, so my taste buds were probably on strike.

In summary: if you love confusion, hunger, and disappointment, this place is five stars. If you came for a chill beer and a good time — I suggest you...

I went there around 5:30pm with my friends who came over from Wellington first time in this bar and we order beers and food so they brought us food around 6pm and immediately the lady gave us a board with reserved table booking by 6:30pm. She just put that board on that table and left, not even explained or or told us that she’ll organise another table for us. I and my friends was so disappointed by their service and hospitality. Then I called them and asked for replacement table and lady again told me that oh we are not sure to find the table for you which was again so disappointing. I never felt so disappointed in any bar...

I ordered the mixed cider box online after trying part of their range here in Auckland. When I received the order, it was slightly incorrect and part missing. Scott and Ben were so helpful, responding to my calls immediately and sorting the issue as well as going above and beyond by sending me the ciders within the 24 hours with extras. So very appreciative and grateful. I will definitely be ordering...
