14 November 2018 - I was having lunch at this food court with my kids. I had been wanting to try since I read the positive reviews on Google Maps and now I know why 🤔. This food court is hidden on the side of Countdown Supermarket and only visible from Madras Street. It is directly opposite to Ara Institute. There are two entrances, and both will lead directly into this food court area.
This eatery is located at the far end of the building 🏢 and is owned by the two sisters 👭. There are plenty of choices to choose from; rice or noodle options, dry or soup based dishes, finger food and many more including "economy rice - check the Wikipedia". They also sell cold drinks such as ice ❄️ lemon tea, ice milk tea... etc. and I do recommend that you have a try (delicious 😋).
I ordered a #10 Special stir-fry flat noodle (chicken) with extra spicy and #6 Chicken satay noodle soup for one of my kids.
Both dishes came with a good 👍 portion size and very satisfying 😁. I had the special chicken stir-fry flat noodle dish and it was delish 😋😍. It is similar to char kway teow (a popular noodle dish in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia). Generous amount of noodles and chicken pieces. The only thing I don't really like was the vegetables; I wish they could use brocoli or bean sprouts rather than corn kernels, diced carrots and green peas. But that is a small matter and doesn't affect the overall taste of this dish.
This is a non licensed eatery.
There is no outdoor area and smoking 🚬 is [definitely] not inside the building.
There is onsite parking 🅿.
They accept cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments (sadly, Paywave is not available), for those who want to know.
Friendly staff. They smiled a lot 😁😊😆
Would I go back? Yes 😏 Would I recommend? Yes 😊 for a quick lunch

Read moreNestled inside the Madras Market this little Balinese and Thai restaurant is excellent! Between two people we ordered their Pad Thai and their Bali Fried Noodles. Both were $17 in Aug 2023.
The Pad Thai was sweet, tangy, saucy, and savoury. Everything I want from a Pad Thai. It was so moreish! The dish used the thinner, flat rice noodles — as expected. The fried tofu had soaked up sauce, so good!
The Bali Fried Noodles were a new dish for me — haven’t had a lot of Balinese food. They used the Bean Thread Noodles, which gave a glossy, glassy look and an excellent texture. The dish was super savoury and seasoned with a soy based sauce. So good, I highly recommend!
I love the Hawker/Canteen feel the Madras Market has and enjoyed sitting and...
Read moreMini food court has this tasty Thai place with premade and made to order menu. Order while standing and receive a tray while you watch them scoop, or sit at the table for a fresh item. I ordered pad Thai which was superior to others I have had in the city and worth the wait. Tables and chairs are hard and metallic, the view is parking lot and space is noisy when crowded, so many take away. Leftovers go in reusable stackable plastic tubs. I ordered spicy and was not disappointed in the...
