As a self-proclaimed pecan pie connoisseur, I have tasted slices from every corner of the globe—from the sugary depths of Georgia to the butter-laden heights of Vermont. However, nothing prepared me for the nutty nirvana I encountered at Boo’s in Christchurch. This place doesn't just serve pecan pie; they elevate it to an art form, or perhaps a comedic masterpiece—depending on how you view my waistline after one too many slices.

First, let’s talk crust. The crust here is flakier than your neighbor who still swears by dial-up internet. It crumbles just right, like a well-timed punchline. It’s the perfect blend of buttery goodness and structural integrity, a delicate balance that could make even an architect weep with joy.

Now, onto the filling. Imagine, if you will, the gooey center of Middle Earth but filled with sweet, caramelized nectar. Each bite feels like winning the lottery—if the lottery involved an avalanche of pecans cascading over your taste buds. These pecans are roasted to perfection, adding a crunch that’s more satisfying than popping bubble wrap. It’s like a symphony in your mouth, where the orchestra is composed entirely of tiny nutty maestros.

The sweetness level? Let’s just say it walks the fine line between Southern charm and ā€œare you trying to give me diabetes?ā€ It’s not just sweet; it’s the kind of sweet that makes you consider a career as a beekeeper, just so you can be around this level of honeyed delight all the time.

And then there’s the presentation. This pie is not just served; it’s bestowed upon you, like a precious artifact. You half expect a velvet cushion and a spotlight as it’s placed in front of you. It glistens with a sheen that says, ā€œYes, I’m beautiful, and yes, you will regret every calorie, but it will be worth it.ā€

In conclusion, Boo’s pecan pie is not just a dessert; it’s an experience, an adventure, a nutty escapade that leaves you both satisfied and questioning your life choices. If you haven’t tried it yet, I suggest you do—before I eat it all. Trust me, it’s worth every delicious, calorie-laden bite. And who knows? You might just find yourself penning your own love letter to this...

Unfortunately I can’t rate this place very highly. When we arrive there were 2 groups of 2 and 2 groups of 4, so 12 people all up. It was Sunday so reasonably quiet. We ordered within 10 to 15 mins of sitting down. Not lots of food, 2 chicken (1 with a waffle), 1 sliders, 1 enchilada. It took over an hour for the first plate of chicken to come out. Then the rest of the food came out in dribs and drabs. By the time the second meal had come out the first persons meal had been eaten. This was the case for each meal. The other chicken dish we ordered, which was the same as the first meal to come out, came out last. In the meantime the table next to us that came quite a while after us we’re getting their food. If our table ordered 2 chicken dishes why weren’t they cooked and delivered to us at the same time? I don’t believe this was in any way the fault of the wait staff. In fact the poor waitress had to keep coming and saying it’s on its way. The chef must have been incredibly disorganised and unable to multi task and prepare more than one thing at a time and the food wasn’t even that great. Why I gave the 2 stars and not 1 is the waitress was nice and she was aware we had been waiting for ages as she offered to remove our drinks...

We had lunch at Boos yesterday (around 1.30pm).5 adults and 2 kids.Only one other couple was there before us and then we had the place to ourselves for the next 2hrs or so.We ordered sirloin steak(3x),baked mac n cheese, Southern fried chicken tenderloins with maple & black pepper caramel and chilli butter,Cajun shoestring fries with comeback sauce (loaded fries),baked pancakes with candied bacon, maple syrup and berry compot. We also had non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, dessert of the week which was choclate tiramisu cheesecake with a scoop of icecream - delectable!!It was everything I wanted it to be for our little celebration meal!Amazing setting, chill vibe, great music, awesome service, delicious food and steak was cooked to perfection!! It was our first time and we're definately coming back when we visit...

Bravo Boo's ! 3 rules I have in cooking US Southern Food influenced by French colonization (aka Creole/Cajun): 1) Don't over/under cook the rice 2) Don't overcook the shrimp 3) Don't pour Old Bay or Zatarains to cover up sins or bad ingredients. In the 30+ years that I've been away from Mobile & New Orleans, I can count on one hand the "decent" home food I've had north of I-10. Not only did you shine at my rules, you upped the ante with delicious local mussels. It was a treat for this Bama boy that's far from his birth home.

OMG this place is amazing Christopher and Jade have been absolutely fantastic - Jade you make the best cocktails, your Pina Cola I could drink that by the gallon!! Chef -your food is amazing your pretzel loaf and slider buns I just can’t stop raving about them - you seriously need to start a business It’s a shame we are from Auckland as we would be regulars Keep up the great work and will be spreading the word to any of our friends that are down in Christchurch to definately try you out.

I love the atmosphere Boo's has to offer. It has speak easy feels and an array of local artists performing nightly. The bartenders Liam and Arthur know how to make lovely whiskey cocktails. And are super friendly to spark up a conversation. The food is also impressive. I did not think the breaded chicken could be amazing, but boy was I wrong. All around it is a great lively venue that is open late night. You should give it a go!
