Red Light District — Restaurant in Christchurch

This cocktail bar had potential but it wasn’t executed well…

The decor was generally nice but let down by cheap plastic menus and fake candles. There were signs around the bar in deliberately broken English which felt pretty racially insensitive to say the least… the music was top 40 which was all wrong for an “oriental style cocktail bar”.

For somewhere advertised as a cocktail bar, the cocktail list was very limited and the cocktails weren’t very nice - so sickly sweet most of us didn’t even finish ours.

Everything is special about this hidden place stylised as one of the forbidden Shanghai bar. Formerly a separate business and now part of You Hanoi Me , open only on the weekends evenings, it’s a real treat. Everything is special from the entrance, hidden behind the laundry to the dresses of the staff and decor and authenticity of the place. Fantastic job in recreating authentic atmosphere! Sadley they could not do my washing for me but were able to console me with beer. Not going to lie being naked and drunk is way more fun any who. Cool moody little private bar.
