We came into Indian Ocean with high hopes and left with mixed feelings. The positives are that all the dishes were exquisite and cooked to perfection. The menu is very fetching and the restaurant itself is very inviting and hygienic. If you are going in for the food alone you won't be disappointed.
On the other hand, we were not sure how to feel about the service. Our waiter was not openly rude but he came across as a tad indifferent. When we said that we were First Table customers this seemed to set off his coolness towards us from that point onwards. We overlooked this as the food was divine but many Kiwis we know would not have been impressed. From our impression, First Table customers almost seemed to be like lepers to this gentleman which I find to be such a shame. First Table provides a way for customers to discover new restaurants. These customers should be seen as opportunities for your business, not liabilities or nuisances. If you still disagree, then you should simply stop using the platform.
This slightly dampened an otherwise very lovely night out. We were actually out to celebrate a milestone for my mother. After the reception we received, my mother refused to even look at the drinks menu and even prevented me from ordering a drink. I calculate that you guys potentially missed out on at least $50 extra on our order (and this does not fall under the First Table deal!). The only other thing I would add is that I don't know why the restaurant plays Jazz music. Not that I don't like jazz but I'm sure there's some much more beautiful Indian music your diners would be...
Read moreIt was to be a special evening occassion ,intimate and relaxed....However , the mayhem , wailing and arguing from 2 children, seated in the restaurant, who appeared to belong to our harrassed wait person ,really was a major disappointment. She did her best to accomodate us but was distracted and had to leave our table a few times mid sentence, to deal with the fractious young children. Our group's initial reaction was to be tolerant and patient ,( had some babysitting glitch occured?) but as this situation continued through our appetiser ,drinks and delivery of the mains we felt quite annoyed..No apology or explanation was offered so there was no indication of how long we would have to sit in silence and wait for sanity .A disappointing and frustrating welcome for my two visiting guests, especially as I had sung the praises of this restaurant and encouraged them to dine there. Eventually, the staff member collected up the children and left , peace was restored and we could enjoy the tasty and generous meal. The mango lassi was excellent. We were curious about the choice of the music recording which dominates the airspace. It was cool piano jazz which , although pleasant enough ,seemed incongruous in this context. The interesting decor which is strongly Indian themed would be so much more enhanced by also having Indian music, creating an...
Read moreMr.Manager please learn some manners on how to treat your customers. We were four people and we had a treatme voucher. The voucher stated that we can use upto 2 vouchers per table in a visit. The deal was that for a $15 voucher we can eat upto $30 valued food. The total bill was $60 and we wanted to claim two vouchers. The manager was very rude and he said that we need to order four meals to redeem two vouchers. He said that it will be a loss if they redeem two vouchers at a time. Then why did you put that two voucher's can be redeemed per table in a visit??? I'm just re-iterating on what's written on the voucher's T&C's. Come on dude!! get your proper terms and conditions on your voucher.
To whomsoever who dealt with us in the restaurant today, we didn't have enough time to argue with you. You have charged us for what we were not supposed to pay. Please learn professionalism and try not to rip off your customers.
I would never visit this restaurant again neither suggest it to anyone. If anyone is planning to visit this restaurant, please...
