I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at your store on 2023/6/23. I had reserved a table for myself and friends, arriving at 6:22 pm. However, after ordering, we were informed that we had to leave by 7:15 pm or face taking away unfinished food due to another reservation. This tight schedule and lack of prior notice left us frustrated. Furthermore, during the serving of dishes, the service was perfunctory, with the staff rudely placing the dishes on the table. Additionally, the waiter communicated this information in Chinese, this incident gave rise to the perception of potential unfair treatment, further exacerbating our disappointment.
Thank you for your response. However, I would like to express my position and dissatisfaction with the issues mentioned. Firstly, we did not receive any email regarding the 7:15 pm leaving time. The email is:"This email is to confirm your booking atMiss Peppercorn on Friday, 23 June 2023at 17:45." And "Thank you for joining us! We would appreciate amoment of your time to provide us with somefeedback. This helps us to monitor service levelsand adds as a great motivator to our team!" Secondly, the attitude of the service staff when informing us to leave at 7:15 pm was extremely arrogant. She tone of voice made us feel uncomfortable and angry, which significantly affected our dining experience. Furthermore, it is concerning that the waiter chose to communicate with us only in Chinese when informing us about the leaving time, but did not provide any Chinese service during the ordering process. This inconsistency in language usage was unexpected and unprofessional. Moreover, we were not informed about the requirement to leave at 7:15 pm when we placed our order. It was only after ordering that we were told about the time constraint. The suggestion to pack the remaining food for a group of eight is impractical and inhumane. Consequently, we requested the cancellation of dishes not served after 6:50 pm, as it would be too late for us to finish them. Lastly, throughout the entire meal, we experienced a lack of good service attitude. Your reply seems to shirk responsibility as it does not address our concerns regarding the service attitude. I hope you will take these matters seriously and address them promptly to improve your service quality.
Additionally, I want to clarify that I did not mention racism in my previous correspondence. My concern lies with the unfair treatment we experienced...
Read moreBased on all the reviews we expected a much better dinner than what we had last Saturday. We started with the Edamane beans and the Crispy Spring Onion pancake. Beans were great but the pancake was oily and we could not see much onion in it. It was served on some kind of “bamboo leaf tray” which had space between the leaves so the oil was dripping on the table and the pancake pieces were touching the table through the ”holes” of that bamboo tray. So, not very hygienic. Then we went for a stir fried bok choy which was fine and the Typhoon Shelter Lamb at $38.90. The lamb was very fatty and very dry with the crumb topping. This was a total waste of money. The wine was fine. At the end of the dinner, we wanted to redeem our voucher from the Entertainment App but we left the phone at home. (Big Mistake!). So, I proposed to Miss Peppercorn – not sure if it was her name (she was also our waitress) to quickly go and fetch my phone as we are leaving only a few minutes away from the restaurant or to come back the following day if this was ok with her. She said coming back on Sunday evening was fine to redeem the voucher. So we paid our bill in full and came back on Sunday. However, to our surprise after talking to someone in the Kitchen in Chinese (May be the real Miss PepperCorn!!) she never wanted to honour the voucher, despite what we agreed the day before and said that it should have been presented the day the dinner was paid for. I think she should have said it upfront and I would have gone to get our phone last night before paying and be able to redeem the voucher. It could have been handled better. Morality of the story: Don’t forget your phone as words are not...
Read moreRe: Omg, your reply just confirmed how horrible your service is! We were a big table that day, about 10 people, we NEVER left the kid unattended and the kid is 8 years old, he DID NOT break the plate on purpose, your blame on a KID over a PLATE is just unbelievable, unbelievable, unbelievable!!!
——————original comment left one week ago: The kid accidentally broke the plate, sharp pieces fell over the floor, and there were other kids sitting there, the first thing the duty manager (supposed she was, worked mainly at the cashier and seems to be some kind of leader) said was: “did the kid do it on purpose?!” and she looks pretty upset!!
Come on, be human, shouldn’t you worry about customers safety first?? And ask yourself, how much is a plate worth, will never come back to this place for this service, and will also tell all our friends to not come. We waited an hour for our dishes and there’re only 2 people serving the whole cramped restaurant, but we were totally happy with that, it was the “duty manager”’s behavior crossed the line.
And to be honest, the food is not really good/authentic, Sichuan style is famous for its 4 tastes: numbing spicy, hot spicy, umami, aromatic (麻辣鲜香), here for the main dishes you can only get numbing spicy and hot spicy, so basically it’s spicy only. And if you have had authentic Sichuan cuisine or any Chinese cuisine you would know you would never have potato chips in your satay dishes, like never.
Please help yourself and try some other Sichuan food in CHCH, I’m not saying they’re excellent, at least they’re not this ridiculous.
