South Garden Chinese Restaurant 南园中餐 — Restaurant in Christchurch

Very unfortunate experiences in terms of servicing here. The food isn't bad per say, kinda like your average Chinese yum cha restaurant. I come here from time to time and honestly the servicing is never up to standard. Came here a few days ago and waited at least 40 minutes with only one serving of cold buns given to us. Many MANY tables after us were fully served, and it didn't make it better as we were seated next to the bathroom; and was also in a bit of a hurry so we had to leave with basically a empty stomach!

The staff always look like they are in a rush and all over the place almost every time I come here, but for some reason can manage to be so slow especially during busy days! If you don't mind long waits then the food is okay; however, during busy days can be an absolute nightmare and...

First time going to South Garden Chinese Restaurant. The interior is nice. I like the round tables but it will be good if there’s a lazy Susan. The beef went out first before the rice so we waited for the rice to be served before we can start to eat. The yanzhou fried rice was a bit dry and lack taste but still ok. The serving was good. The sizzling beef was tender and tasty which was really good. The roast duck and roast pork platter was good, but I think the portion for the pork was little. It might be good to just order it separately. The fried squid was ok. A bit disappointed because the squid are small and tiny. Was here for evening meal on Monday 15th May with 2 work colleagues. Lady serving us could not be faulted and did her utmost to please and accommodate. The food was ok. I wouldn't call it exceptional but the serving size was very good given the price. I just struggled with the taste of the food a bit. What was rather off putting was the state of the premises. Run down, paint missing and generally looking quite unkempt which in turn makes you wonder about food quality.
