Wooing Tree Cellar Door & Kitchen — Restaurant in Cromwell Community

It's such a shame for a winery that probably held quite high esteem in the area. Wooing Tree Vineyard has become little more than a wine shop in the middle of a housing estate under construction. Whilst their selection is trademark for the area with Pinot noir featuring heavily I can't recommend this wineyard to anyone. The service was friendly and knowledgeable but overall the winery experience was scarred by earth movers and power drills in the background of what was once probably a picturesque spot. Sad to say but look elsewhere in central Otago for your essential vineyard stops, this should no longer be on the list. Buy their wine from a bottle...

We arrived at the Wooing tree at the same time as two other gentlemen, they were promptly taken to a table, ordered and served their beers. Meanwhile we awkwardly stood there and had to ask the man if we were allowed a table. Once we sat down no one came to greet us/take our order. 5 min later we saw two more people arrive and were seated nearby us. They again had their orders taken and served almost immediately. We had just been for a long bike ride and had two young kids and were looking forward to doing a tasting and then choosing a bottle to take home with us. Wooing Tree Vineyard is an absolute gem in Cromwell. Their Pinot Noir is outstanding — both the flagship and the Beetlejuice label deliver great character and elegance. I also loved the Blondie rosé, which is fresh and unique, along with a well-balanced Chardonnay and crisp sparkling wines.

The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the tasting experience relaxed and enjoyable. The setting is beautiful, with outdoor seating and vineyard views — perfect for a sunny afternoon. Family-friendly, welcoming, and with top-quality wines, this is a must-visit in Central Otago. Highly...
