Wharf Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Gisborne

The place is lovely, good vibe to it when you walk in BUT.......

The wait for food was far too long, (We were the 1st in) it took an hour from Time of ordering to receiving our kai.

#1- Big Breakfast x2 - Both were nice. #2- Entree, Lippy Mussels with sauce, they were good. #3- Outlaw. Chips and Mushroom sauce were fresh, the sandwich mediocre as. (Sorry guys) #Drinks, Mohito = Not great. Iced Mocha = Good iced Chocolate = Good Raspberry = Good. Desserts = Good

Also, toward the end of our meal, our cousin found a black hair in her potato cake, I took a photo, and showed the staff, by this point we were pretty over the whole experience. They offered a free drink to cover the "Hair" incident" - but we declined as we were put off. We paid for everything, including the breakfast with the hair in it!

Next time, check your kai before it goes out on the line, you cannot make mistakes like this, it hurts the business and its reputation. To our server (The one with the red and black hair) you were so lovely xxx Thank you...

A few little tweaks would have made our night 5-stars like our last visit; had to wait about 20minutes after being shown (well pointed to..no-one took us there) our table for someone to come over but we had already ordered; no complimentary water served on welcoming; no serviettes on table (ate our garlic bread then realised nothing to clean up with, had to ask for some); didn't receive our ordered drinks until after entree; complimentary water (which we ordered after mains) was warm; our waitress (youngish girl) for the night served our water & dessert seemed "over the night" (as opposed to the older waitress who served our dinner who was very friendly & bubbly which makes a huge difference); same dessert as we ordered last time for the same price but a lot smaller (pavlova). Food was DELICIOUS as like last time but just a few small things could have made...

The place was way less then half full and the kitchen was too hectic to take orders??!? We went in for breakfast there were ample free tables only 8 tables full 4 of which already eating staff said kitchen was at full capacity so we said can we put our order in and wait but it will be well over a hour we said no worries then a different waitress was at the counter and “we aren’t taking orders” I responded with “can you put us at the back we are happy to wait there no rush” she replied word for word “if we put orders through now it will stress the boys so we aren’t taking orders” (the boys were the useless chefs in this case) even though we were happy to wait for food, so we left and went to PBC Cafe instead and it was brilliant- would Love to be able to contact the owner to alert them to the shocking behaviour and attitude I can’t capture in a written...
