I had shared snacks with a good friend when i had time to take in the harbour water views, flying fish breaching the water surface and Kaiti Hill. Was too late for dinner but the ribs with the famous Lone Star loaf was nothing short of spectacular. I was hungry and i usually feel my temper wanting to flair... A condition known as hangry. When we were minutes late for the kitchen and dinner no longer available... Just as well the snack menu was sufficient. Dare I say it, if the snacks menu had fallen short, i would engage the local Maori war dance... Kniwn commonly as the haka... If you havent seen one, pay attention to the All Black's Rugby team as they enthusiastically enter the rugby arena and prepare for battle... Albeit to my delight. I would have done a haka... Just as well Lone Star puts up a consistent standard of good food with decent proportions too. Otherwise I'll be jumping around with a protruding tongue, intense facial expressions and muttering in te reo about how appealing the staff would be in a hangi (traditional earth oven)... Dodged a situation there! 😂😂😂

Auckland Anniversary weekend and down to Waipiro Bay/Te Puia Springs for the long one, on our way back surprised to find many of the eateries were shut for the public holiday on the Monday, hunted around and sure enough Lonestar was open and on a perfect hot sunny evening, grabbed a table and watched a bit of the NZ v IND ODI then secured a table outside for dinner, for her Classic Caesar salad & Steamed pudding, I had pan fried Tarakihi, capers and mash followed with Banoffi pie ... the desserts we redeemed on our Lonestar Loyalty phone apps free for both of us ... well delicious dinner and drinks - highly recommend you wont be disappointed ... Nga mihi nui!

I bought a steak meal along with chips, salas, eggs and mushrooms and this is by far the worst $70 ive ever spent on food. None of the food stated above had any flavour whatsoever, let alone my steak wasn’t even cooked to my preference. Not even the eggs with any decency. I will never be buying from here again. Fire the chefs. If you are from the public and are seeing this comment, and are looking for a good steak meal, id recommend breakers or cozy club. I will add tho, atlesst it was hot, for delivered food.

We went there at 8 pm as google says the restaurant opens till 10 pm, our intention is to take way the dinner. When we arrived, no one at the reception (to be seated area) and waited for a few minutes. Then I went in and find someone to assist us. Then the waiter asked us to wait so we did continue to wait. a few waiters and waitresses saw us at the reception but no one acknowledged us. We waited ard 5-7 min more. Since no one is coming so I went in again then I saw the waiters and waitresses are talking and giggling among themselves. So I asked for help us AGAIN! But I asked nicely. After a few min later, so called “the manager”, a lady came out and she said sorry we are closed for food. my boyfriend, who is a kiwi, said the closing time is 10 pm. Then she said “yes that is only for bar. the kitchen closed at 8 pm” . She said with the unpleasant tone and attitude (facial expressions). It was really unpleasant experience. We have traveled the world and never experienced the restaurant say the kitchen closed 2 hours before its closing time. Additionally the negative attitude of the manager and all the waiters and waitresses are shocking and...

Rang up on Tuesday to enquire booking a table for 15-20 people for the Saturday. They were booked on the food side so I enquired about the bar side and the lady said she would arrange a table for us I then asked if we could eat main foods on that side and she ensured us we could. Come to Saturday I'm there with my group of people and I ask the man working there "hi reservation for Taylor" and he's looking in his book and there's nothing there nothings booked so I tell him what the lady said and he said I am welcome to get a vacant table for my group. The tables were apart and could only seat 5-7 people we put 2 tables together and had to take chairs from other tables to seat the other 6 people. I then asked for menus for the table and he said we were only aloud bar food no main food despite the lady telling us different. So I'm highly disappointed for the empty promises and lies the lady on the phone said. We all walked away and I was highly embarrassed. My friend did order a burger there and it didn't come out till 1hr+ later and 30-40 mins after my other friend ordered her food even though they ordered at the same time. Lovely...

ALERT: UNFAVORABLE REVIEW

We made a reservation to celebrate my son's birthday and, while the Lasso of Pork was decent and the burgers were good, my fish was dry. The ribs were tough and disappointing. Furthermore, the Dixie chicken was no longer served as a whole breast but instead as 2-3 chunks of chicken. We have observed a decline in both food quality and portion sizes, despite an increase in prices.

Our waitresses were polite and helpful.

The cocktails resembled mocktails, served in oversized glasses that contained more juice and ice than alcohol. When we raised our concerns with the bar staff and the Duty Manager regarding the lack of alcohol flavor, they explained that cocktails are meant to have a high juice content and adhere to a specific ratio. Perhaps they should consider using smaller glasses, particularly given that drink prices range from $18 to $25 each.

Overall, this experience was quite disappointing. We used to frequent LS when it was lively, with happy staff and a vibrant atmosphere. Ultimately, we spent nearly $400 for a party of six, which feels excessive for such mediocre...
