Corner Cafe — Restaurant in Greytown Community

On Sat 18 March 2023 I was travelling through Greytown. My son, my sister and I called to in to Corner Café for lunch. As there were no plates etc or paper bags by the food units we proceeded to the counter to place our order. The counter was unattended. After waiting around 2 minutes a couple entered the store and from some unknown location a staff member came past the counter where we were standing to get their order. That couple came to the counter and squeezed in front of me so they could pay. All that time we received absolutely no acknowledgement from that staff member. Other staff were in the kitchen with one having their earphones in. The staff member with the earphones obviously saw our frustration and eventually came down behind the food display units but at that stage we had already decided to walk out as the ‘damage’ had already been done. It would appear as though there is very low morale at this establishment. I see there are two other reviews from customers who’ve had similar experiences to ours. Had an amazing experience! We went to the X-mas festival and just could not stand to wait in the long queues at the festival, and after walking a bit up the road, we found this GEM that was still open due to the Friday and Saturday night festivities. The food was great, so much better than I expected given the great prices! My son who does not like any food, loved his burger and fries! The food was fresh, tasty, and all the pies and baking is made fresh in store! The service and friendliness from the owners was just amazing. A simple stop-and-go spot offering classic local favourites like pies, cheese scones, sandwiches, burgers and a selection of drinks including hot chocolate, coffee, and cold beverages. The interior is basic and tidy with a good number of tables and chairs for those who wish to sit in. Although the decor and ambiance is not cosy or inviting. There is a regular flow of customers that do come in and go but don’t really stay for long.

I tried the cheese scone, which unfortunately was quite bland, and I was also given the wrong drink with my order. That said, prices are reasonable, making it a convenient option for a quick bite- though perhaps not one I’d go out...
