Delicious Pizza. Quality is one of the best I've had in NZ. I had a bit of a misadventure on a busy day when I tried to order online. I ordered online and the payment was processing and I get a pop up that says they closed the store due to running out of cheese. Payment went through but I couldn't tell if they received my order. I called 5-6 times and never got an answer. I also tried emailing. I had no choice but to drive up there. I had to park two blocks away and after waiting in line for a bit I told the guy at the counter the situation. They did not receive the order and was told the payment should bounce back and if it doesn't to get in touch. All staff was super nice about it. The only thing I didn't like is I had to order again and then wait a bit longer. It was a 2 hour ordeal trying to get dinner. I was hangry near the end. A coupon or discount would have been nice. Something to remedy no one answering the phone so I didn't have to go up there or carry 2 huge pizzas two blocks. I would've opted for McDonald's but I was there and waited so long anyhow.
**Update, received communication from management and they were eager to check in on the issue and I received a refund for the double charge. No free pizza lol but the prompt communication and customer service was much...
Read moreSal's Pizza on Victoria Street is a solid spot if you're craving authentic New York-style pizza in Hamilton. The moment you step in, the smell of fresh pizza dough and melted cheese hits you – instantly tempting. I went with a classic large pepperoni, and it didn’t disappoint. The crust was thin, slightly crispy on the edges, with that perfect chewy texture underneath. The pepperoni had a great kick, and the cheese was just the right amount of gooey. They also don’t skimp on the toppings, which is a huge plus.
What stood out for me was the balance in flavors – not overly salty or greasy like some pizza places. Portions are generous, so it's easy to share or save some for later. The staff were friendly and quick with my order, even though it was pretty busy. If you're a fan of a true New York slice, I’d definitely recommend checking out Sal's. It's a bit pricier than your average pizza, but for the quality and size, it’s worth it. However I wasn't too happy about the Cheesecake dessert - but this...
Read moreWe recently visited Sal's Pizza and tried the 5 Boroughs pizza (half) along with two slices of Pepperoni Pizza. The total cost was $50. The ambience was fine, seeing the kitchen added a nice touch to the experience. Doors were left open and you could feel a bit cold so just load up the jackets to feel warm during winter. The lady who took our order didn't greet us and seemed a bit off at first, though she did smile and seemed more pleasant later on. We can understand she might have been tired.
As for the pizza, the taste was quite different and nice, but the base was quite chewy and not as soft as we would have liked. It was not filling.
We’d reserve a visit to Sal’s for special occasions due to the expense. It's a good spot if you're looking for an expensive pizza that won't leave you feeling too full—perfect for when you want to indulge but still keep things light. Overall the staff was nice ☺️ Thank you for the service and we look forward to visit...
