I recently visited Snowtown in Hamilton, NZ, and decided to try their Crème Brulee Milk Tea. Overall, my experience was quite positive, with a few aspects that stood out.
Ambiance: The atmosphere at Snowtown is cozy and inviting, with a modern, clean aesthetic that immediately puts you at ease. The seating area is comfortable, making it a great spot to relax or catch up with friends. The decor is fun and vibrant, with a snow-themed interior that adds a unique touch to the overall vibe.
Service: The staff was friendly and attentive, greeting me with a smile as I walked in. My order was taken promptly, and I appreciated how they patiently explained the different options on the menu. Despite it being a busy time, the service was efficient, and I didn’t have to wait long for my drink.
Crème Brulee Milk Tea: The Crème Brulee Milk Tea was a delightful choice. The tea itself was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The flavor of the crème brulee was spot on, offering a perfect balance between the caramelized sugar and the smoothness of the milk tea. The texture was also well-executed, with a good mix of creamy and slightly chewy pearls that complemented the drink perfectly.
One thing I particularly liked was the topping— the caramelized sugar layer added a lovely crunch, which gave the drink an extra layer of texture and flavor. However, I would have preferred the caramel flavor to be a bit more pronounced to give it that signature crème brulee taste.
Overall Experience: My experience at Snowtown was enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and delicious milk tea experience in Hamilton. The Crème Brulee Milk Tea is a must-try if you’re a fan of dessert-inspired beverages. While I think there’s a bit of room for improvement in terms of flavor intensity, it’s still a satisfying treat that I would happily order again.
If you’re in the area and looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a quality drink, Snowtown should definitely be...
Read moreI have been always wanted to try this shop. Went to this shop this week around 8 something in the evening. It was really busy. 2 staffs were working hard, running in and out, taking orders, touching different machines, customers queuing. Friendly service. Sadly I found the hygiene awareness is shocking. I ordered a classic shaved ice. I waited patiently. I have been observing the food preparation process. The shave ice has got almond and rice cake toppings. The staff used his bare hands (not even wearing gloves or use a spoon/tong) grabbed from the container and put into the shave ice. 😲 I was not even sure if he would use his bare hand to press onto the shave ice during the preparation. There was no spoon/tong or gloves seen for direct food contact. I waited nearly 30 minutes for my shave ice (I don't mind, I can understand it's busy). In the mean time, the staff was running in and out the cashier and store room, touching dirty table cloth, touching cashier machine, different container covers, table. He did not even have time to wash his hands properly. All he did was rinsing his hands under the tap for 1 second, touched the dirty cloth to dry hands and rush off to other tasks. I can understand the pressure during food preparation. However, using unwashed bare hands to grab the toppings (plus has been touching so many things before) and serve to customers is disgusting. If there's no time to wash hands, at least use a tong or spoon during the preparation, especially uncooked direct food contact. Not planning to go back. No confidence in the hygiene awareness. Read moreWe had the shaved ice/ bingsu here. And it was a massive disappointment. We had a large summer classic (0/5) and a regular chocolate cheesecake (2/5). the mango and strawberry are frozen/ canned and disgusting. The shaved ice had minimal sauce on the inside making it bland and flavorless. The ice itself doesn't have enough flavor. Especially if all you had on the outside are disgusting frozen fruit and a bad artificial tasting sauce. The only good component was the cheesecake chunks, but there wasn't enough good parts to fish out... Mostly left unfinished. The chocolate was much better in comparison, but still bad. Texture of cookies was large and chunky and too much of a big thing to break apart in your mouth (texture of jagged large dry chunks not enjoyable), and it suffered from the same "the ice has no flavor and little sauce on the inside" issue. Cheese cake/ brownie chunks were good additions. Maybe they make better drinks, we only had the bingsu. And had recently had an amazing bingsu elsewhere in another city making this one a real disappointment. Would...
