Grabbed a quick 45 min lunch, got cranberry and chicken panini. The bread was dry so it was falling apart into dust in my mouth, the chicken and cranberry was was fairly sparse, I barely tasted any? and I'm not even sure if there was any camembert in there? It had a squirt of mayo and probably 1 slice of tomato. Instead of spinach (which would've held its own), there was wilted soggy lettuce that was stringy because it had been toasted. This was probably one of worst paninis I've had, it smacked of cheapskate management skimping on all the ingredients and overcharging customers (& I've worked in a Cafe for a couple of years, so I know this is an unacceptable standard in food and price). It's unfortunate, because had the panini been "just passable", I would'nt have bothered to put a review up....but it was so bad, I would've paid not to eat that sad excuse for a panini...luckily I had lovely company which made it bearable, and I didn't want to be rude and send it back to the kitchen in front of company, but I should've! The place was also so hot, we were sweating and it wasn't even a hot day outside..about 19-20°. The service was great, wait staff were lovely, can't fault them. The noise of smoothie maker and grinder made it difficult to talk/hear each other and when it stopped abruptly, we'd be shouting to each other suddenly.. I've been to this coffee club about 12-18mths back and it was really good....I don't know what's happened??! But you get stuff all for what you pay. Falling well short of tempting me to ever return, will be heading to Jarks around the corner next time where you get actual food and you feel like you ate more than a 1 piece of dusty dry bread. Very dissapointing. Save yourself the $ and disappointment and...
Read moreVery disappointed in this place - I have been to many coffee clubs around the world and this is by far the worst - ordered a croissant with tomato, ham and cheese from the cabinet - it arrived and I opened it up to find a one cm wide piece of ham and cheese and two quarter slices of tomatoes - just enough to fool me that the croissant would be covered in the centre - approached a staff member regarding this who asked if I wanted another one and then informed me they were all the same - this is disgraceful!! Then stood and the counter with another staff member and pointed me out and they stood there looking and talking about me - do not recommend this Coffee Club - there are plenty of other choices in Hawkes Bay to spend your money. We will not be back and highly recommend you go elsewhere if you want value for money and decent...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews, take this as a warning. I've been there many many times. Food is good but expensive, the place is nice. Last time, after I paid what I thought it was quite a lot for what we had, my wife decided to go to the toilet. Having nothing better to do, I calculated how much our meal had cost. It should have been around $70, but I was charged $85. So I decided to go back to the counter and ask for a GST receipt. I didn't say why. Straight away the lady checked what we had had and said there had been a mix-up with other customers. (there were only another couple and us at that time) She gave me $12.50 in cash. For me, it was clear that I had been overcharged. She knew. I wondered how many times I was overcharged in the past. As I said, that was the last time I went there, not coming back. Shame, I...
