I had the most incredible experience at The Alderman. I got married at the park next door and had our reception lunch in their patio (50p). The food was so delicious especially the steak and all the meals for all of our guests were served 5mins-15mins from the time of ordering. They kept their same menu and cooked to order everything we wanted on the day. Ive worked in the industry and my guests too for over 15y and we were all shocked and overwhelmingly surprised how well and fast the food came. The waitstaff were great and helpful and efficient and everything was just simple, stress free and wonderful. Im so thankful to The Alderman for making our special day even more special and I would highly recommend to go . They dont advertise weddings but its a stunning place not to take the opportunity as a member of the public to use it in such a manner without the venue fees etc or for any occasion. Im confident that whatever they can deliver. Superb!! Thank you so much to Donna the owner she was amazing to liase with and she even helped us find a last minute chair hire, Our family are so appreciative and thankful to you and your staff for putting on a wonderful day for us. Thank...

I would do a 3.5 if I could, however as I can't I have to round down to a three. Our service was very good, food and drinks came quickly after we ordered even though there were many customers at the time. The building itself is a nice mix between old and new and aesthetically pleasing (especially with the windows that show beautiful trees and greenery). Although these aspects were great, to me the food is most important. I got an iced chocolate for my drink, and although it came very quickly, it tasted like milo powder mixed with water. For $6.20, you could get much larger and tastier iced chocolates at the supermarkets for half that price. The eggs Benedict was okay, the bacon lacked flavour and the hash cake was just fine. Overall, I got the impression that everyone in my group was impressed with the atmosphere and service, but no one particularly thrilled with the food. If you value good tasting food in a restaurant, maybe...

We were disorganised for Mother’s Day and took a risk turning up with no booking- Donna was very nice & pragmatic and worked some magic to fit us in, despite the place being so busy. The team were very friendly, professional and food service was exceptionally fast (esp considering it was full house Mother’s Day!) The food was delicious, both our kids ate their full kids meals with no fuss (one had the kids hotcakes & the other had kids scramble with bacon) and loved their kids hot choccies. The adults had an eggs bene w bacon and the lamb on flatbread and both were amazing + coffees were great. Pricing was very good (vs NZ current cafe prices) esp with how good the quality was. The outdoor games (badminton & corn hole) were also well appreciated to keep kids entertained. We were so happy with the whole experience that I felt it necessary to share straight away! Highly highly recommend & we will definitely be going back...

We enjoyed the fresh and friendly service, whilst also admiring the park scenery, including tuis feeding on the nectar in the flax flowers just outside the window. We enjoyed our meal, but doubt we would make the trip out to Henderson again solely to eat there. It was good as a one-off. I particularly liked the potato sourdough used for the Reuben sandwich because it was not overly thickly sliced, and the Russian dressing nicely complemented the sauerkraut and corned beef. The Chicken Schnitzel read better on the menu than it delivered in reality. The schnitzel was well cooked leaving the chicken a bit dry. Both meals were served with thin, hand-cut fries, which made a refreshing change from standard chips. Unfortunately, our coffees were disappointing. They arrived cold (not warm) and were insipid in flavour, which slightly detracted from an otherwise pleasant experience.

Father’s Day brunch was organised for two elderly fathers, first impression was sparkling, clean and a very nice ambience for dining, service was great the 3 waitresses serving food and drinks where nicely dressed and friendly. A few details require attention, Salt Containers had damp salt that wouldn’t sprinkle, shakers nice ones would be nice. I ordered a simple scrambled egg on toast as my test! UNFORTUNATELY it was shocking, very coloured and on burned crust toast! It was served with a chilli dipping sauce but the taste of the scrambled eggs was unusual and almost inedible! And needed to be hotter. Maybe salt would have improved taste but doubtful! If salt shakers where used ( cheap on TEMU nice ones) and scrambled egg dish was upgraded I would score you a nice 5 and give a glowing review! Arthur C. Charlton West Auckland
