Taj India - Whangaparaoa — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

First the food was amazing! Good work chefs! How ever I rarely have the service experience I had last night. We waited 45 minutes for any food to come out, the resturant was not that busy but there was a lot of uber eats people waiting around. The server also forgot items that were ordered and I asked for them to cancel them once we had completed our mains as it was clear they weren’t coming. We were not the only table that were complaining. The guys next to us received their meat and it took so long for the rice to arrive that their meat went cold. On the other side of this a table they forgot all the sauces that came with their meal, the person who was in a wheel chair had to go find a server to get them. Everywhere we looked the tables were full of dirty plates, they had been like this the moment we walked into the restaurant. The poor server seemed like he was left alone to manage everything himself while the manager just sat around. I would never recommend dinning in here to ANYONE but I will order on takeaways as this restaurant seems to only prioritise uber eats and door dash orders. You need...

There are 3 components to thr eating out experience . The food, the environment and the human touch. The food as always was great. Been here before a couple of times and the quality of food brought us back. The price is a bit steep at big tikka hence going here comes with some thought. We were lucky to have noticed a deal on restaurant hub. However this is where things got out of hand. We called to see if we could get our 2 and 5 year old. Everything was cordial on the phone. However due to a blunder on the staff's count we ended up with a full price. A bit out of pocket and was extremely disappointed the the restaurant did not take ownership of the mistake. The staff was apologetic but aparantly due to management restrictions there was not any more. Though the food was still great I am downgrading my rating to a 2 star as the overall experience was not pleasant. Unfortunately this is the last time I visit the place. I ordered from here as I am currently on a mission to try all local cuisine in the Hibiscus Coast area.

I ordered: Butter Chicken, Lamb Saagwala and Garlic Naan.

#1 Butter Chicken The Chicken was tender. Could’ve used more time marinating to get that beautiful flavour enriched to the core. The sauce was beautifully creamy and had a lovely thickness to it. Perfect balance of spice, saltiness and sweetness.

#2 Lamb Saagwala The lamb was magnificent. Melted in your mouth. You could pull apart each individual strand. The sauce was beautiful and fresh, Perfectly salted and a lovely hint of sweetness without compromising the savoury flavours of the lamb and spinach.

#3 Garlic Naan Light buttery and flakey. Perfect balance of garlic and not overpowered with herbs like other places often do. One of the best naans i’ve had
