Upon seeing a neon sign in the window simply stating "cheese on toast" my interest was immediately piqued. Is it really just cheese on toast? Well, no. I mean, it's an option, but they do a lot more. After the initial crunch of the perfectly toasted rustic bread your pallette can be greeted by any of the menagerie of pristinely crafted fillings. I had the truffle mushroom toastie, and additionally I had the creamed corn toastie. Let me tell you, I was barely breathing. My mouth solely became a vessel for the consumption of these crisp carbohydrate delights. My first sip of the hot chocolate, made with their house made ganache, caused my to physically leave the building to compose myself. The seasonal soda, again house made, was passionfruit and lime and contained such powerful levels of pure delicious that I near wept. This is a really nice little place on the main drag to Birkenhead Wharf. The owner (I presume) is a friendly guy with great customer service. Food and drinks came out quicker than average, and were nice. My lemonade was excellent, though my wife's soda lacked flavour unfortunately. She got the plain cheese toast and said it was exactly what she expected - a slightly fancier toastie than you'd make at home. My mushroom and truffle toastie was excellent. We'll be back to support this lovely local for sure, especially to try out the other recommended toasties and sauces I've seen on...
