Next Door Gallery — Attraction in Kaipātiki

I am reluctant to write a review of this excellent gallery and gift shop ("call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye"). A Birkenhead treasure, it's located in an old villa stocked with a lovely array of arts, crafts, jewellery and related items. Of particular note for me is the quality pottery from a range of artists. Others may be more integrested in paintings, high quality prints, etc. The focus is on NZ and local artists and products without generally falling into twee nationalism or touristy memorabilia. Excellent price range from a few up to several hundred dollars. Staff are helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Somehow, the owners of this gem have managed the perfect balance of variety, tone, range and personnel. It's always a pleasure to enter and browse and buy. Yes 5 Star. Next Door Gallery had been at the same location for years, it's not a pop up gallery it's in a lovely shop run by Jen and her team. Having some of the best to be found Kiwi variety of artwork, no not just stunning paintings but also beautifully hand crafted jewellery, sculptures, indoor and outdoor art, blown glass, pottery and other crafts.
