Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Duo. We came in for the Crayfish Menu but being massive piggies decided to order a few extra things as well. We started with the steak tartare and omg, I normally hate steak tartare (don’t love the texture) but this was amazing. Serving with the endive and Parmesan was an excellent idea. We then had the crayfish on cracker which was also amazing - real explosion of flavour offset nicely by the crisp cracker Next up was the crayfish brioche bun and once again was fabulous. The buttery sweet brioche contrasted nicely with the crayfish Next up was the crayfish stuffed zucchini flower and this was ok, didn’t love the textures of the prawn and crayfish inside the zucchini flower. Felt very chunky and meatbally - would have been better more moussey Next up was the crayfish pasta and this was good although not my favourite. Came with sides of fries and lettuce which felt a bit random. We also finished off with chocolate caramel dessert and this was also really good although felt this biscuit tasted a bit funny. Super friendly staff (the owner served us and she was so friendly and nice. Allowed us to try the wine before we ordered a bottle which was great as we do not love our first pic) We left very happy and (very) full. Great way to celebrate my hubbys birthday

Updates; back again for the clam pasta. Which was sadly but if a let down. Could’ve been more flavorful but the more we ate the more it was just clams, maggie like 2min noodles and butter sauce. I ventured out and got something I would never-fish toast which was surprisingly tasty. Duo has hope for us yet! A note that it’s always quite busy in the weekend brunch time and walk in may not guarantee immediate seating. Feb 2023-Brunch was absolutely a delight here! Every meal goes a long way with a special twist, for once a salad looks nice and hefty not like I’m going to leave hungry, big breakfast actually looked solid with the best crunchy potato chips which were sooo good in both look and brunch. Was quite pleased with the salad it inspired me to make my own so attached that here too xp Keen to have more to try more of the menu and consider consistency, place is a bit small and inside seating was unavailable on a chilly day though servers were helpful as they could be. Keen to go back!

Duo in Auckland is a stylish, modern restaurant known for its unique fusion of Asian and European cuisine. Located in the vibrant city center, it offers a diverse menu featuring dishes that blend traditional flavors with contemporary culinary techniques. The ambiance is chic and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The menu at Duo is varied, offering a range of appetizers, mains, and desserts. Popular dishes include the Korean-inspired fried chicken, fresh sashimi, and inventive pasta dishes. Their drinks menu is equally impressive, featuring a selection of fine wines, craft beers, and creative cocktails. Service at Duo is attentive and friendly, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a meal with friends, have a romantic dinner, or celebrate a special event, Duo provides a delightful culinary experience in the heart of Auckland.

My partner and I saw a promotion online for the special 'truffle bene'. We had a free morning so decided - being truffle lovers - to make the 40minute drive to Birkenhead to check it out.

The eggs benedict was enjoyable but unfortunately despite the very large amount of fresh truffle on top of our dishes nethier of us could taste any truffle at all. Perhaps the truffles weren't being stored correctly and had lost their potency or were just very low quality but ethier way, was a bit dissapointing for a dish championing "fresh NZ truffle".

The service was quick and friendly. Coffee was okay. I ordered a second coffee to go at the end of the meal which the sugar was left out of despite the waitress repeating my order.

It ended up costing $90 for two Eggs bene's, two medium coffees and one orange juice. This felt alot - especially considering the truffle benes' had no truffle flavour.

On the whole, pleasant enough food and setting, but staff were flusted and the meal felt...
