We have been regulars here for decades, through all ownership changes right from the day the cafe first opened. Two of the reasons are that there has always been a decent sized coffee (ie a 500ml bowl) and always great staff. Under the new ownership, the largest coffee was a small overpriced takeaway cup, no large coffees at all and certainly no bowls. The 'Korean pork' pie was a small spoonful of minced pork only, with a sauce and was not cheap. Very poor value. The next table had toasted sandwiches which appeared to be burnt. Cabinet food was very light on savoury options and what there was would probably give my teeth a good work out. The menu was overpriced and not at all appealling.
Despite several emails to the previous owners, (Kings) there is still little or no shade on sunny days. Previously, there were umbrellas on the outdoor tables, since removed as a 'health and safety hazard'...
Sorry, but after all these years, pre Kings we were there six days a week, and often with a regular group of up to 14, we won't be back. Fantastic staff don't make up for the other issues. There are other places where they serve a decent sized coffee and good brunch food at a...
Read moreDisappointed. I know daily bread make great pastries and breads but not great as a brunch cafe. We ordered a Reuben toasted sandwich and the rose egg (basically it’s a scrambled egg). When it came we had to ask for cutlery. This took a while, the waiter hand washed some. Partner hated the fried green tomatoes that took up most of his plate of his ‘rose egg’, while this was on the menu, as a garnish it might have been ok, but alongside a small amount of egg it was overwhelming. He ate none of the green tomato. My Reuben toasted was alright. When the coffee came a request for sweetener instead of sugar couldn’t be provided. Sadly having come here for years, my husbands disappointment means we won’t be back. A very American menu that doesn’t seem to...
Read moreWent to Kings Plant Barn on Porana Road for breakfast today and was surprised that there was a new Cafe, Daily Bread. Purchased the breakfast bun and the egg Benedict. The breakfast bun was a small bun with a fried egg and a hash brown. $17. Ingredients would have cost a couple of dollars at best and the effort to make, a couple of mins. Feel absolutely ripped off. The Daily Bennie which was $28 was two slices of bread, some silverbeet and a corned beef hash brown and ONE egg with what looked like some out of a jar hollandaise sauce. One egg!!!!!! The waiter just dumped it on our table without a word and no cutlery. At best it was a $12 meal...even then I would have been disappointed. Would NOT recommend. ...
