I was really glad there’s a Korean restaurant in Orewa and was hoping they keep their fame for long. I thought I’d enjoy this local restaurant, dodging all the good ones in Albany. But, I’d like to leave an honest review maybe to help them to improve and keep surviving in this area. First we were greeted by this young server who seemed quite sad, served water which had a tiny speck of chilli powder. We ordered bulgogi and fried dumplings(obvious choice as they specialise in dumplings). Their side dish was okay and bulgogi about the average. But these dumplings, they were cold although they should’ve been fried in oil. The outer coat was little bit crispy so no doubt it’s been fried who knows when but the filling tasted like old meat with no juice at all. And within two bites into the dumpling, it tasted like acetone. I still couldn’t believe my taste and took another dumpling and bit into it, still couldn’t eliminate acetone taste. I thought maybe it’s from the soy sauce I dipped in, so took another one and bit into it. And no, it was the dumpling itself which was cold, not juicy, tasted like old meat and acetone. I don’t know but I think they should keep their quality on food high so that people who actually try Korean food in this area wouldn’t give up trying Korean food. I really hope the owner reads this...

Ttukbaegi bulgogi with rice An abundance of ingredients including a variety of veges and dangmyeon (glass noodles), great portion of bulgogi which was so tasty, honestly so perfect when you can’t decide between noodle or rice dish haha The soup was delicious too! My go-to dish when I can’t decide between the soup dishes

Update Went again the next weekend during opening hours. Ordered the dumplings, yukehjang, and bulgogi. The dumplings were good pretty standard, the yukehjang was missing some key ingredients so didn’t quite taste like the ones I’ve had in Korea. The bulgogi didn’t have a good balance of peppery and sweet, was underwhelming and the cuts of meat were quite chewy wouldn’t recommend either.
To be honest I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here and probably wouldn’t if I was in the...
