Ocean Inn Motel — Hotel in Kaipātiki

Very underwhelming, do not recommend. Best part about this place is the comfortable beds. Otherwise it's VERY basic which is OK if that's what you're looking for, but it isn't worth the price you pay. The rates are too high for what it is. We prebooked but had an extra person choose to stay with us last minute so they asked us to pay an extra fee which we happily paid. HOWEVER they didn't have any extra mattresses or bedding for this person and all the beds were already taken up. So they literally couldn't place the extra person in any bed but they were more than happy to accept the extra fee! Then we were having difficulty with the TV and couldn't find the Sky remote so some old guy came along and "helped" us but then he tried to blame our two kids for taking the remote because he "swears it was there this morning". As if his senility couldn't be the problem. Very disappointed...

I booked very late due to being in North Shore hospital with my daughter, but the owner/manager couldn't have been more friendly & welcoming when i phoned to book. I was a little worried when I drove up to the motel and saw a pile of old furniture out the front. The external view of the Motel was not particularly great - looks like it needs a good clean and paint perhaps. However!!! It's what's on the inside that counts ... as I said, the night manager was very friendly even though I arrived at nearly 10pm. The room was very fresh looking, nice and clean, bathroom was so nice and bed was comfy. Very impressed for price and so close to the hospital that it was ideal. Definitely drive past the "Po" and head to Ocean Inn. My only feedback would be the addition of some Drinking Chocolate for a sweet sip before bed. (But that's just me...

I travel to Auckland every fortnight for my work and have stayed at the Ocean Inn for the past 3 times due to its convenient location close to my work. The last time I was there I know 100% without a shadow of a doubt that I left my phone charger there. I called to ask about it and was told they would call me back.... 3 days later they hadn't called back so I called them only to be told that it wasn't there and I must have done something else with it. I know I left it plugged in beside the bed!! Just goes to show that they don't check each room between guests as they claim to!! Some lucky guest would have got themselves a brand new fast charger and now I'm out of pocket as a result!! Not at all impressed with the way they handled this. Now they've lost my regular business and...
