central + kitchen — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

I ALWAYS was coming here when they were called kreem. Last time I went here they changed over to Central Kitchen. I and my collegue both purchased the spicy chicken skewers. Ive had it before and thought was amazing!

When i received mine (takeaway) it had a funky smell. When we got back to work to eat it the smell was worse. I took one bite and it was horrible. Tasted as bad as it smelt and not only that but the meat was like bluish purple inside ??? My collegue said yes taste weird but she will just eat with salad to take the taste away. I threw mine in the bin and went got sushi instead.

Next day my collegue didnt turn up for work as she was up all night throwing up and in out of the toilet !! She had not eaten anything else since that as she started feeling sick after work.

I got in touch with central kitchen and sent a private email regarding it and has been well over a month and did not get any reply back or any apology.

I have not gone back since along with EVERYONE at my work place. First why was off chicken being served? Most def was not fresh and for sure they knew that. Came in and requested 2 coffee's and 2 cheese scones (one toasted) I did request that they TOASTED cheese scones-this enhances the cheesiness. so I was happy that they understood my request ( CUT- EXPOSED FACES TOASTED) What was delivered was a full warmed scone.( not expected and I requested from the server to return it to the kitchen and to toast it. It came back whole and doubly warmed. When I requested that my order be followed I was informed quite curtly "that we don't do that here ! "with accompanying attitude and also "You have to cut your own" "unfortunately no Knife provided. What was going to be a pleasant sit down with my colleague turned out to be a disappointing warmed partially cheesed scone and service. What can be more plain that the word "Toasted" obviously in this establishment. Hopefully there were no more disappointed customers that day. We are very impressed and grateful! Since first writing the review below, we also contacted Central + Kitchen regarding this apparent overcharge and they confirmed the price was an error. They have since refunded the entire $23 to our bank account. Thank you Central + Kitchen....great customer relations!

We had been charged $23 for 2 single pieces of banana bread!! We questioned this price when we realised what we had been charged, staff thought it was probably incorrect but couldn't refund. They said we would have to wait until the owner came to work. But this happened to at least 2 lots of customers, including ourselves, who were about to depart Auckland on a bus tour, Sunday 5th May at 8am, so we were unable to wait. The Tour Guide also spoke to the cafe staff who confirmed they also thought the price had been set incorrectly in the computer but they still couldnt refund the over-charge. Left a bad taste...
