Columbus Coffee — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

One morning me and my sister came in for a coffee and a bite to eat. The first thing my sister walks to the counter and the man said "we aren't taking orders the system isn't working it will be 10 minutes". Then a lady walks in and orders and they take her order and then gave her coffee?! she looked dressed up and all.. So I walked up and this time a lady who works there came up to me and she said "we aren't taking orders the system isn't working , it'll take 10 minutes!". I felt like just because me and my sister weren't dressed up that day that this man & woman working there were judgemental and discriminating us base on our appearance! Little did they know my sister is a nurse/teacher and I am a teacher too! How rude are you to treat us like second class citizens. Next time people come in dress how ever, don't treat them like dirt! WE are all human, just because I wear no makeup and my hair up doesn't mean I got no money? disgusting behaviour...

Used to be a regular here when I lived nearby, and the people there were always so friendly and accommodating—it was my go-to place for coffee and brunch at the mall.

Few months ago I found out a new team took over.The food wasn’t great at first, but it did get better over times. Unfortunately, the service has been a huge letdown. Every time I’ve been in recently, there’s no greeting, no smile, and the staff just seems uninterested. What really bothers me is that no one offers to use coffee rewards anymore. The first couple of visits, I thought it might be new to the team, but now it’s clear that this happens every time. Chatted with other friends, and found out I wasn't the only one who felt the same. July 2023 We chose this location again for its central location. On this occasion we may have pushed the limits on our expectations as all 28 people in our group gathered between 10.30am and midday. Overall the place was clean an tidy and the staff were pleasant. Will continue to return in smaller groups. August 2022 Have been visiting this particular Columbus Coffee cafe for several years. The reason being it can accommodate groups of friends (14 to 16 people) without any prior warning. The food and facilities have always been excellent and over time there is evidence of continual improvements to raise the customer satisfaction.
