My New Yorker family is in unanimous agreement - Aozora is hands down the best sushi shop in Hawke's Bay! The fish is always fresh and flavorful, the rice is perfectly seasoned and pressed, and the rolls are to die for. We always enjoy watching the considerable skill of the Japan-trained chef. He and his wife are an incredibly delightful couple, always going above and beyond and ensuring that every customer leaves sporting a smile. The shop offers a selection of Japanese drinks and snacks to go along with your delicious meal. Small family owned business- we tipped towards their daughter’s education which felt good. We had a great chat to the owners who were so friendly and kind and interested in us.
