We went to the Burger King because it was less busy than the neighbouring McDonald's and was right next to the ChargeNet Hyperchargers my electric car was charging on. The burgers are usually better (totally subjective) in our opinion.
The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a perspex screen at the till. Masks were required. We scanned in using the Covid app. The restaurant was nearly empty so social distancing wasn't a problem. The men's toilet was clean. Always a plus.
Outside the restaurant they have several tables with tops made of wooden strips fixed to a metal undertop. Most of them were falling apart. The varnish had long ago faded / rotted away and the wooden strips were either gone or coming loose or soon will. It wasn't hard to tell these have been in bad shape for months at the very least. But we didn't sit outside - partly due to this - so it didn't affect us.
The current decor inside is spare and functional. It's a long way from the 50s retro look that had been standard in NZ Burger Kings for a decade. I guess it's easier and cheaper to maintain. It felt more like a small town takeaway with seats outfitted on a tight budget. Nothing wrong with that. Just very different to the previous look.
The burgers drinks were fine. We enjoyed them. I don't eat the chips, so had a triple whopper with a salad.
Four stars. Easy.....if you don't want to...
Read moreAt Burger King Taupo: I ordered tendercrisp chicken meal with sprite from mobile app. I also asked to add sriracha sauce in burger. I got a pack, which I thought must be my meal, with my drink and i reached home after 10-15 minutes of drive. I opened the pack to eat my meal and it was hershey pies. 🤦🏻♂️ i mean you are serving one customer at a time on the drive thru window and still this kind of mistake. I was on break and i had limited time. It took me another 10 minutes to come back, returned the hershey pies, took my original meal which i ordered and another 10 minutes of drive back home. I reached home, took out burger and it was cold. They didn’t even give me straw with the drink. I took the lid off, had a sip of sprite and there is another disappointment. It was flat, no taste and was like i got half sprite- half water. 🤦🏻♂️ fries were alright.. 😑 Thanks for wasting my time, wasting my fuel and wasting my break. No wonder why there is no queue in the drive thru of burger king. And this is not the first disappointing incident happened with me at burger king, there are quite few but i guess neither staff nor manager cares about the reviews. I guess that’s why after today’s mistake, no body felt sorry for their mistake. Bad service. Wrong order giveaway. Cold food. Flat drink. Going good...
Read moreWorse and pathetic service at Taupo burger King. Very poor customer service, staff has no manners at all. It was our one off stop yesterday at Taupo on our way to palmerston north from Auckland. My vaccine pass got scanned properly but unfortunately my husbands vaccine pass was not scanning. The staff demanded for ID. My husband was trying to tell the staff that he has his ID copy on his phone but the staff was not prepared to listen to him. She was yelling at my husband and asking him to leave the store & wait outside till I get served. I tried to talk to staff to explain I have his vaccine pass on my phone But she was just not listening to us. Rather she worked off & demanding him to leave the store. I felt very bad the way she treated us. Felt like racist aggressive arrogance behaviour from the staff. She didn't even gave us chance to speak out. It was not our fault that they device could not scan properly because my husband has used his vaccine pass at multiple places in Auckland without any issues. I spoke with the store manager he saw the ID & he was OK with it. He did apologise but it was just an unacceptable treatment we got. Felt so unfair & sad with the whole experience. Regretly we went to Macdonals and the service was totally opposite to...
