McDonalds - although seen as suburban, disposable and tasteless - except for some familiar tomato sauce/gherkin paste which is the calling card of their “style” is actually deeply classist. The on hand (ie: not loaned) deposit for opening the franchise is steep, then the company expects payments for the prefabbed “family restaurant” that basically sells water, sugar, carbs, white bread and extremely thin, bland “burgers”. McDonalds started offering low cost salads at one point but then upped the price for unknown reasons.
McDonalds mostly hire part timers - people that require accomodation supplements and the like to meet the cost of living, making McDonalds essentially a burden on the tax budget; the company are fundamentally “welfare bludgers” - while few (except managers) significantly save from working there, and things like paid holidays or health/dental benefits don’t exist. The disposable nature of McJobs with the Company™ predominantly involves younger people working six months to two years maximum. Processed foods, along with tobacco products and sedentary lifestyle contribute to the clear majority of US deaths, and cows produce hundreds of times the nitrogen of the average human daily. The company’s food has remained bland and of low quality for decades, due not to demand but market monopolisation. They are the definition of bland franchise dominance masking environmental damage and poor...

This was a big deal to me because little did she know; it was my sons 3rd birthday He was tired and over it, having come from the zoo We aren't from Wellington he is non-verbal Autistic This simple gesture set aside my other 1000 visits to Maccas. The food was good and fresh, Burger wasn't skimping on sauce or pickles, chips were nice. The only negatives was the playground could do with a clean (rubbish present) and it was a bit overwhelming with high school kids?? (I guess they can visit on lunch breaks) Food for thought. Small gestures go...
