Basin Noodle House — Restaurant in North Island

I've been going there for the last 20 years, even before the current owners took it over. The food is very good, fresh, flavourful and the portions are very generous when you eat in. Although I have my favourites, I implore you to try their whole menu. The english names are certainly not over selling the dishes: I recommended Salt&Pepper Pork, Sour-Chilli-Soup or Tofu in Brown Sauce. If you're not familiar with Asian cuisine, the dishes behind these unassuming names will blow you away. If Sweet&Sour Pork is your thing, have it here and you'll immediately know how far above average Basin Noodle House is. My husband went to pick up order for spicy fried vegetables noodles and requested that no carrots and extra tofu three time to the staff who took order, inspite of extra effort to place order they added extra carrots with no tofu in the noodles and when he got home and found out, we rang them to explain the situation, very poor customer service and saying same thing again and again that they will make it but cannot do delivery when it was their fault, no apology and to make things worse the staff was very rude over the phone. I told her that I was not well and my son is sick as well, my husband came all the way to basin from crofton downs to pick up order and they made it wrong, she said well we can’t deliver it to you. This is one of the most legit Chinese food places in NZ that I’ve been to in the lower north island and it’s really affordable! I really wasn’t expecting such authentic delicious food when I eyed this place up off Adelaide but it was a happy surprise. The dumplings were awesome and surprisingly cheap for how many you get! If you’re from, lived in, or travelled to China and miss the food you had there, this is a really good place to go.
