Mean Doses — Restaurant in North Island

What a gem! New kid on the block in Wellington's busy craft beer scene, but stands out from the bunch already with pungent layered flavours in a nice variety of different beers. Despite working so hard, Dean is always smiling like Sam in Cheers - the local barkeep happy to help you sample a new dose of something sumptuous.

I think I've tried everything now - there's a new Mean Bounty based on the old Bounty bars (coconut-ty flavours) and there was a special batch of Mean Super Dupa(?) brewed for Wellington's Cubadupa carnival.

A fresh new Brew Pub that boasts phenomenal beers complemented with fantastic food! Highlights for me was the house beer, a golden larger, on nitro. And the hot wings supplied by Mabel's downstairs. With so many beers from the Mean Doses Brewery that will challenge your understanding of just how good a beer really can be, you'll never be disappointed here. If you can't decide they have beer flights or you can ask for a sip before jumping into crazy beer. I'm looking forward to guest taps as well. But the fun doesn't stop there. Dean is a true ambassador for New Zealand beer and brewing. He has a great setup and offers a selection of international and local beers alongside his own well crafted brews. We tasted his Chocolate, Raspberry and Coconut Stout, his Pale Ale and his Double IPA "Phony The Elder". Its a great place to visit whilst in wellington and compared with many of the locations on the "Craft Beer Capital Trail Map" its bright and airy. You can fill up there - there are about 10 Taps, 3 of which were from Mean Doses and the others from Guest Breweries.
