Midnight Espresso is such a staple of Welly's Cuba Street culture that there is no other score to give it than perfect. Objectively, it lags behind on individual metrics. The food is good, and quite varied, more of late-night comfortable than Michelin. Staff tend to be unusual characters with lackadaisical speed and service. The decor is unapologetic punk with out of date signage and strange music selection. Customers can be even stranger than any of the above. Though the coffee itself is excellent, and Havana Coffee is brewed nationwide because of it. In a vacuum, many of these things would make for a subpar cafe experience. Yet, on the heart of Cuba, it feels like it couldn't be any other way. I call it perfect because it so acutely represents its location and I wouldn't change a thing. The experience is greater than the sum of parts. As the name suggests, visit Midnight Espresso late at night; after all, it's the only place for a late cuppa. It's best for when the night is old, but not over yet. In times like that it feels like a collective place of rejuvenating respite, an eye of the storm, amongst the...

I started going along in the late 80s and as a uni student during the 90s and right up to today, although less so now that decrepitude is setting in! And this may seem trivial but I am disappointed to see that after - I'm sure - Her whole existence - dearest midnight has stopped putting two tea bags in the teapot! There's nothing nicer than a good strong cuppa tea after causing mischief late into the night and early into the morning. Five bucks is very good for a pot of tea. But I think $10 for two teabags is not sensible especially for such a an ancient, iconic, bonkers, wonderful, romantic, cuppa tea shop! Still much...

It wasnt busy at all but I had to go back up to the counter to collect my own food and coffee after the barista yelled out the order rather than bringing it to the table.
Ordered a what I thought would be a nice cheese scone which was a soggy over-microwaved ball of plain flour. A few strands of grated cheese on top doesn't constitute a cheese scone, especially not for $5+.
Coffee was acceptable at best.
With staff that at least pretend to be intetested in being there, it might be a nice place to work from, but unfortunately i wont be returning...
