Ordered Butter Chicken from the "High Protein" option on the door-dash app, and Swagat India Brooklyn made me a tomato soup sauce with some milk and turmeric added, the barest of spices, and seven tiny bits of chicken (one was larger than the others). My friend said that I, a Pakeha Italian, could make better butter chicken. A few years ago I complained about the slop that some Indian restaurants were serving as Butter Chicken, but it seems that that's what Kiwis like - sweetened tomato soup dressed up in orange clothing. I once had an amazing butter chicken from an individual, non-chain, restaurant in Takaka made by an Indian dedicated to his craft. I will always remember the texture, the flavours, the spices, and the personal service delivered. The other meal was Chicken Manchurian which was slightly better, but not by much. The Cheese & Garlic Naan was flavourless, and my friend couldn't distinguish the Methi Paratha from the naan.

The food here is soo outstanding - love the flavours. This used to be our regular date night spot four years ago. We decided to relieve those memories tonight with a meal here and a movie at the penthouse (mission impossible) . We got the Chicken Jalfrezi (hot) and the lamb balti (medium), with garlic and butter naan. Everything was outstanding. Great service from lovely Deep she was the only one on the floor and she was doing an outstanding job serving everyone. Well done Deeep- you deserve a pay rise. It was pretty busy for a Thursday night.

Came here on Monday evening for work purposes. Everything about the experience was five star from the food to the service and in particular the staff who were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Would fully recommend the restaurant to anyone an awesome experience.

My husband and I ordered lamb Biriyani, chicken Vindaloo and pappadams from Swagat India Brooklyn through UberEats on 30th November 2024. The Chicken Vindaloo curry was a complete disaster. We usually eat spicy food and even though we expected a high spiciness with the Indian Spicy level, what we got was almost unbearable to eat. We somehow managed to eat the chicken pieces and some of the curry. Once we were done, we found that our fingers were stained with a deep reddish-orange colour which stayed on for more than a day, despite washing our hands several times. They've used food colouring heavily in this dish, and when we notified them of this, they retorted back by "teaching" us the colour of Indian spices (which we happen to use daily in our own kitchen). Their overall response through the Uber reviews platform was appalling and completely unprofessional, which prompted me to write this Google review. The attitude they display towards customers is terrible which is the primary thing an organisation should take care of. With this they've not only lost us as their customers but all our social connections in New...

I love Indian food and I love reviews so I had a read before ordering takeaway. Surprisingly passionate and varied! I’m pleased to say my hot lamb vindaloo was exactly as it should be spice wise. Hot! I saw someone complaining that the ‘Indian hot’ vindaloo was too hot which I think is hilarious. Too often places pander to the delusions some customers suffer that they love hot food, forcing the rest of us to ask for Indian hot just to get a medium hot. Don’t blame a restaurant for providing an honest heat level. I see a couple mentions that the butter chicken seems like canned sauce and honestly I applaud this as well, it’s a dumb dish and you’ve yourself to blame for ordering it. All that said, I was disappointed by the lamb, lots of gristle and very tough. Cooking it in a pressure cooker would break it down much better than this (though it wouldn’t remove the gristle). 2/5 for the meat, 6/5 for the sauce, tangy, spicy, not too sweet with delightful flashes of coriander, just like it was in Goa! I’ll order chicken next time but my...

Awful experience… last time I visited this restaurant it was a bad experience I thought we should go again this time to change our perspective because sometimes mistakes happen.. you can’t imagine what happened when we entered this time the lady started to argue with us.. she said why did you put so long comment on Google also she said we have a lot of 5 stars you guys can’t put comment like this….. so for your kind information Google reviews are all about genuine views of people you can’t stop customers to share their genuine opinions… if you are making mistakes that’s absolutely fine but you can’t force people to do only good comment.. and how can you judge others whether you’re working since from the last 5 years but there is no need to tell your customers that you are working so long…we entered she came to us and literally started to argue … this is common sense when someone is coming in your restaurant you should greet them but the behaviour of that lady was super peculiar this time…...
