The Establishment — Restaurant in North Island

I have been for a meal here on another visit and found it satisfactory. I live in the Hutt and went to check out the karaoke with a friend of mine - they have it advertised for Tuesday nights from 10pm onwards. We arrived at 10.10pm and as they had a big crowd from Kiwi experience come through, I can totally understand playing dance music to keep them happy as they had the numbers and were spending money. What I am not happy about and I have been around the karaoke scene for almost 20 years, is I've always found it's the operators that kill the popularity of karaoke. People who truly enjoy singing [and don't need to get drunk before they do it] are always looking for a good venue to sing at on a regular basis- We just want consistency so we know what we are getting each time we come. Well I definitely won't be back as they mis-represent what they have as karaoke when it's it's predominantly DJ playing sounds splattered with karaoke. When the DJ 'Big Kev' does put people up, he does not run a fair system. My friend and I were there for exactly 2 hours and only got to sing one song each, which you can understand if there was so many singers everyone only had one song - But no, some people got 5-6 songs and of course if you happen to be an attractive woman, there's virtually no waiting for you at all. Get it...

I use to come to E each Tuesday for your amazing $10 meals - Steak, eggs & chips, Fish n Chips, Burger n Chips etc and to play Bingo. However I had a 2 week break and returned on Sunday with a friend who has just moved from Dunedin. In looking at the menu I was disappointed, the menu ($10 meals) had changed and prices had gone up on previous $10 meals, although the increase of the $10 meals is not an issue. But I was shocked after my friend and I ordered the fish and chips, and the steak sandwich both $15 meals to find, the fish looked and tasted like it was brought from New World out of the frozen aisle. The steak sandwich, was stuffed in to a little red basket with the chips. Unlike Establishment, the food was not your normal in taste, presentation and value for money, to add to the disappointment our food was cold. On the day I couldn't be bothered discussing our visit as the service wasn't the usual happy customer service either. Please go back to how you use to be - you guys...

I enjoyed the New year night. Happy New year 🎉. But... I had a bad experience in this pub in New Year night. A couple I rarely saw them. When I tried to go out of the pub the guy pulled up shirt, in crowd, I asked him what's the reason. He just showed sign to fight with me. I don't know the reason why he reacted to me. I drunk one beer and non-alcoholic drink at that night. The couple made some false allegations on me (they're clear about what he is telling) and complaint to the security guard. The Security guard threw me out of the pub without asking me what happened. After I get out of the pub the security guard and the couple were threatening me to go away when I was calling my friends. This is like discrimination. I worked as a security before no one should be treated like that. I'm honest about what happened, if you want to look for the surveillance cameras to find whose mistake is that. This is the first time to this place I'm not going to be there...
