We walked in without knowing anything about this place- I was literally in jandals! But from the moment we were seated all I can say is simply WOW! The staff are honestly amazing! helping us work out the mains, offering suggestions and even providing us the bar menu for our daughter as the mains aren't designed really for little ones.
We had the charcuterie board as an entree... Man I can't tell you how good it is.. And that mustard is amazeballs.
We also had the sirloin and 3 sides. From 1st bite we were in our happy place. It is really really REALLY good! I had to settle for medium rare as my partner doesn't do Rare - So for me I really enjoyed the rare parts of our meat.. And my partner loved the medium rare! Quite simply an absolute beautiful main course. We ordered 3 sides- gnocchi and gorgonzola, charred asparagus and mushrooms! Man there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the sides!! I wanted to order the marrow entrée, but they hadn't been delivered- so that is a must on our next visit!! the sauces we order to accompany our meat was chimichurri and béarnaise- LOVED the béarnaise, not to say the chimichurri wasn't good, it was. We just enjoyed the béarnaise more- It was buttery with a acid ending which combined with the steak- YOU CANNOT BEAT. I did also spot the hidden gem of horseradish sitting under the micro greens- which YO! you need to make sure you are adding to your meat...
The little one had the fish and chips- which I have NEVER ever seen her eat that much fish in one sitting- I had a taste and I can understand why she wanted to eat all her fish up. It was fresh, moist and thick while retaining all of it natural oils- I want to say it was hāpuka - it is definitely was everything you want in fish and chips! I would of been completely satisfied if FnC was my meal. I had a few mocktails- I can say the Kentucky Rust is sooo good! I did enjoy the Amalfi Spritz. I think our next visit is going to have to be dining on the A5 Wagyu steak! I can't imagine how good that is going to be.
We were way too full for dessert, but next time I will make sure we get in early and have enough time to include the desserts.
I think people might shy away from the costs- But, the difference in price for the FnC vs other restaurants is probably $5-$10. But the quality of food is undeniable! The Main meal is maybe $10 more per person than other steak houses- But again! the quality of food is on a whole other level!
I definitely recommend if you are in search of quality meal especially the steaks! I can't wait for our next visit- I think we will become regulars, who rock up in jandals lol
Can I just add the music while we were enjoying our meal is sooooooooo "TUNE" it was like you were playing my spotify
Read moreI went to Wolf with a group and had a very mixed but mostly disappointing experience. The service experience fell well short of expectations for a restaurant of this calibre. Despite the good nature of the staff, they were clearly young and inexperienced. We waited a long time to get the basics, water, cutlery etc. We could barely get a drinks order in, despite being there late in the afternoon with hardly anyone else in the restaurant and multiple staff wondering around. When I got my drink the waiter spilled it partly over the table but didn’t attempt to clean it or offer a napkin. We’d practically need to dance on the table to get the attention of the wait staff for a drink. Simple things that can make or break your experience were overlooked. I should be clear the staff were lovely and polite but simply lacking the necessary training for service at this level. Now the food. If you want to pay for an exceptional cut of meat, cooked well, then great. But at $50 ++ for a steak, I expect a lot. It really is priced higher than I’m comfortable paying for a small cut of meat and absolutely no accompaniments. Anything you want beyond the steak comes at a cost (apx $11 each extra). That makes for a pretty pricey meal. Some of our group had the burger. I understand that was nice enough and good steak cut chips. The Reuben sandwich was a joke. Partly burnt with hard thin bread. Greasy, and worst of all, lacking pastrami. It was almost inedible and the fact it only had a thin slice of pastrami made it a complete rip off. I’ve had better Reubens in a 7/11. It was a miserable stingy serving and the kimchi slaw was vile and overpowering. The dressing served with it was completely inedible. I’d give it a generous 2/10 and that’s only because it came with fries. On the good side - the raw oysters were divine, but it would have been hard to stuff that up. Overall a very disappointing meal. There is hope for the restaurant but they’ll need to get the basics right and work on their menu. They’ll need to lift their game if they’re going to survive...
Read moreThoroughly enjoyed our meal. Options were varied and executed well. I really enjoyed the crudo and steak. The stand out was strangely the Gnocchi (which is something I wouldn't ordinarily order), absolutely loved the crisp to it. Wine was brilliant. Staff were all attentive and in good form. Only comment that I'll make and it's definitely not a complaint as much as we noticed it so others also might. The music choice is unusual. It was a bit distracting from the dining experience but we did have a laugh at a few songs but definitely didn't match the rest of the ambience. Song list below (my phone auto picked it up). Just in case music is a thing you factor in to your dining experience.
